Deputy General Manager - Group Strategy

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Team Lead, Strategy will play a pivotal role in leading projects that will shape the strategic agenda of group companies, and support execution of high-impact initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage their strategic and analytical skills to develop and implement strategies that align with our business objectives and deliver measurable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project leadership: Drive planning, design, execution and delivery of strategy, transformation, and operational excellence projects. These projects will be cross-functional in nature, and will require working with, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Project planning: Define project scope, deliverables, schedules, requirements, budget estimations, implementation plan, and risk mitigation actions.
  • Strategy and Analysis: Develop recommendations and actionable strategies that are based on internal data and financial services industry best practices, to help achieve project outcomes. Translate recommendations into implementation plans working closely with business stakeholders.
  • Execution: Coordinate with internal and external resources, ensure projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with project staff from cross-functional departments. Adapt scope, timelines, and costs where necessary.
  • Stakeholder management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to influence strategic decisions.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project progress and measure the impact of implemented solutions. Regularly report on project status, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Team management: Support strategy team development by mentoring and guiding junior resources, and build out of knowledge resources such as industry databases, third party vendor relationships, research firms, etc.

Experience

5 – 7 years of experience in Management Consulting, Corporate advisory, or in internal Corporate Strategy teams, preferably in the financial services or related field.

Industry Preferred

Previous experience with top-tier consulting firm (MBB) is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred.

General Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach with the ability to think strategically and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent project management capabilities, including managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Proven Ability to work with, engage, and influence stakeholders (including senior management)
  • Exceptional written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of being outcome oriented.
  • Experience of working in and developing high performance teams.
