Summary of the Role:
Responsible for carefully designing and developing innovative new products, upgrading existing ones to meet higher standards, and continuously enhancing overall vehicle performance as well as improving product reliability over time.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and developing systems and components such as driveline, suspension, steering, cooling, and air intake systems.
- Skilled in preparing 3D/DMU and 2D drawings using Catia V5 and Pro-E, with a strong grasp of GD&T principles.
- Experienced in sheet metal work, solid modeling, surfacing, and detailed drawing within Catia V5 and Pro-E.
- Familiar with defense vehicle specifications and various ballistic standards.
- Capable of generating detailed vehicle layouts and performing system design calculations.
- Prepare DFA and DFS documentation alongside design sheets.
- Possess basic knowledge of hydraulics and their control mechanisms.
- Coordinate with suppliers to drive improvements or develop new solutions.
- Lead or support design analysis for components and assemblies to ensure cost-effective, manufacturable, and reliable designs.
- Independently conduct design reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with engineering and prototyping teams to develop optimal vehicle layouts and packaging.
- Fully proficient in vehicle integration, system and aggregate design, packaging, and layout preparation.
- Conduct benchmarking of competitor vehicles at component, system, and vehicle levels.
Technical Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge of chassis, suspension, steering, braking, front axle cooling, and engine peripheral systems for HCVs, LCVs, and defense vehicles.
- Extensive experience with CATIA V5.
- Proficient in Pro-E/Creo software.
- Skilled in GD&T and stack-up analysis.
- Ability to understand and interpret FEA analysis.
- Knowledgeable in DFMEA, DFA, DFM, and DFS methodologies.
- Strong understanding of Indian and international design standards.
- Familiar with CMVR regulations applicable to HCVs and defense vehicles.
- Demonstrates an analytical mindset.
- Well-versed in material properties and selection.
