Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and execute all prototype build activities in the Proto Shop. Ensure timely assembly, rework, and readiness of prototype vehicles for design validation, testing, and customer trials while maintaining quality, safety, and documentation standards.

1-Prototype Build & Assembly 

  • Assemble prototype vehicles, aggregates, and subsystems as per engineering drawings, BOM, SOPs, and build plans.  
  • Handle mechanical, electrical, and fitment activities including routing, torquing, and leak checks.  
  • Execute rework, retrofits, and design upgrades based on ECR/ECO during the development cycle.
  • SAP MM Module for comprehensive material management and effective inventory control.
  • Microsoft Office and its various essential and widely used productivity applications.
  • Maintain build books, issue registers, configuration control sheets, and deviation records for each prototype.  
  • Prepare daily/weekly status reports using *MS Excel*: build progress, manpower, material constraints, and trial readiness.  
  • Create build review presentations and trial reports using *MS PowerPoint* for management and customer meetings.
  • Plan and allocate technicians, fitters, and contract manpower for shift-wise activities.  
  • Supervise day-to-day shop floor tasks, ensure skill deployment, safety compliance, and productivity.  

2-Vehicle Preparation for Testing & Validation  

  • Prepare vehicles for internal, lab, and field validation as per DVP and GSQR requirements.  
  • Ensure instrumentation, ballasting, and test-specific fitments are done correctly before dispatch to test agencies.  
  • Support on-site trials: data logging, troubleshooting, minor modifications, and feedback collection.

3-SAP MM Module 

  • Create PRs, track POs, and perform GRN for prototype parts in SAP MM.  
  • Monitor material availability, shortages, and aging inventory for prototype builds.  
  • Coordinate with stores, purchase, and vendors to expedite critical parts for NPD timelines.

4-Quality, Safety & 5S & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Follow quality standards and checklists during assembly. Support RCA/CA for build or field failures.  
  • Ensure adherence to PPE, LOTO, and all shop floor safety norms.  
  • Maintain 5S, tool calibration, and proper storage of prototype parts and fixtures.
  • Liaise with Design, Testing, Sourcing, Production, and Quality teams for resolving build issues.  
  • Interface with vendors for proto part development, inspection, and rework support.

5-General Requirement

  • Managing Proto Job Work efficiently and ensuring that all related tasks are completed accurately and on time, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Maintaining Internal Part Inventory with careful tracking, regular updates, and thorough monitoring to avoid any potential shortages or discrepancies.
  • Overseeing Gate Passes and Material Movement to guarantee smooth, authorized, and well-documented transit of items within and outside the facility.
  • Supervising Proto Shop Store Location to ensure proper organization, cleanliness, and easy accessibility of materials at all times for optimal workflow. 
  • Manpower handling and allocation to ensure optimal workforce distribution and productivity.
  • Efficient tool management and regular maintenance to guarantee smooth operations and minimize downtime.
  • Procurement requests carefully planned and executed to significantly reduce overall work time and improve efficiency.
  • Preparation of jigs and fixtures specifically designed for streamlined and precise production processes.
  • SAP inventory control along with accurate material movement tracking to maintain up-to-date stock levels and avoid shortages.
