As a Deputy Manager specialising in Power Electronics Validation within the Product Development division, you will hold a pivotal role at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, a leader in pioneering electric vehicle solutions. Your primary focus will be to ensure the rigorous testing, verification, and validation of critical power electronic components such as onboard chargers and DC-DC converters, which are fundamental to the performance and reliability of electric vehicles.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager – EPT Validation, you will be embedded in a collaborative and high-performing team dedicated to innovation within the automotive sector. You will apply your expertise to drive excellence in validation processes, working across component, system, and vehicle-level testing to uphold the highest industry standards. This role emphasises precision, comprehensive planning, and teamwork with a commitment to zero-defect product delivery, aligning with Mahindra Last Mile Mobility's vision for quality and sustainable mobility.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Lead end-to-end validation efforts of power electronics including onboard chargers, DC-DC converters, and power distribution units, ensuring all activities comply with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), project specifications, automotive standards, and incorporate insights from previous projects.
- Develop, update, and maintain Design Verification Plans (DVPs) that reflect project scope and evolving R&D goals, managing change control meticulously to guarantee traceability and quality.
- Conduct detailed hardware testing and troubleshooting, utilising advanced diagnostic and measurement equipment such as CAN Analysers, PCAN, Busmaster tools, Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes (CRO), Power Analysers, Electronic Loads, and Data Loggers to accurately evaluate product performance.
- Design, automate, and refine test setups tailored to project demands, leading the execution of validation tests, generating detailed and insightful test reports, and ensuring robustness and reliability of test infrastructure.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional stakeholders, including product design teams, suppliers, accredited test laboratories, software developers, and quality assurance units to monitor validation progress, communicate findings, and manage escalations effectively.
- Estimate and closely manage validation project timelines, ensuring punctual submission and review of deliverables for seamless project flow.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing protocols to power electronics components including Battery Management Systems (BMS), chargers, DC-DC converters, and Vehicle Control Units (VCUs), supporting compliance with relevant regulatory and certification requirements.
- Partner with homologation teams to provide technical validation support essential for successful certification and market readiness.
- Utilise established problem-solving frameworks such as Design Quality Assurance (DQA), DFMEA, 8D problem solving, Why-Why analysis, and Fishbone diagrams to undertake root cause analyses and drive ongoing quality improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a recognised university.
- Minimum of 5-6 years proven industry experience specialising in hardware testing of power electronics, notably onboard chargers and DC-DC converters, preferably within the automotive or OEM manufacturing sectors.
- Solid understanding of automotive electrical and electronic component functions and their integration at the system level.
- Familiarity with automotive industry quality standards, validation protocols, and compliance requirements.

- Strong analytical skills with expertise in root cause investigation methodologies using quality management tools such as 8D, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and the seven basic quality control tools.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask efficiently, managing diverse proposals and product variants concurrently within a platform environment.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, enabling clear articulation of complex technical matters to multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Proven leadership in coordinating cross-functional teams—including designers, suppliers, software engineers, and quality control personnel—to ensure project milestones and quality targets are met.
- Strong sense of ownership and autonomous decision-making with dedication to execution excellence and adherence to timelines.
