Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Roles & Responsibilities

• Execute vehicle-level NVH & VD validation, subjective and Objective to ensure achievement of defined noise, vibration, and harshness and steering, brakes, handling and ride targets across all operating conditions.
• Should be able to conduct BSR Testing and score generation. Acoustic and vibration data along with subjective sound quality assessments to support vehicle refinement.
• Identify NVH & VD performance gaps early and provide data-driven inputs for design improvements (BIW, powertrain mounts, trims, sealing, etc.).
• Benchmarking of Vehicle Attributes viz. Power Train Noise, Road Noise, Wind Noise and Idle Boom Noise and Ride, Handling, Braking, Steering and Stability.
• Need to establish and maintain good inter-personal and inter-departmental relations and with the track management authorities. 

Key Deliverables

• Instrumentation & Setup
  • Install microphones, accelerometers, force transducers using B&K / LMS DAQ systems. Set up channels, calibration, and acquisition parameters
  • Verify sensor placement for correct source-path capture
• Test Execution (Vehicle & Lab)
  • Road noise and ride boom tests (proving ground / road load simulation)
  • Powertrain NVH (order-based testing)
  • Squeak & Rattle evaluations
  • Execution of ride & handling and braking test plans as per program timelines
  • Objective test data sets (accelerations, yaw rate, steering, etc.)
  • Subjective evaluation reports (ride comfort, handling behaviour, steering feel)
  • Execute tests in semi-anechoic chambers / chassis dynamometer / 3/4-post rigs
• Data Acquisition and Processing.
  • Record time history and frequency data using:
  • LMS Test.Lab / Siemens Simcenter
  • Brüel & Kjær Pulse / LAN-XI systems
  • Capture key signals: cabin noise (dB), acceleration, rpm, torque, etc.
  • FFT, Spectrogram, Waterfall analysis
  • Order tracking and run-up/coast-down analysis
  • Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) basics
  • VD performance gap identification reports with supporting evidence
  • Benchmark comparison reports with competitor vehicles

Experience

3 to 6 years experience post Bachelor's

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

B.E or M.E. Mechanical/Automobile Engineering

General Requirements

• Thorough knowledge in Validation hands-on experience of NVH & VD attribute validation.
• Good Knowledge and operational skill in handling and using various instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Data Analysis Skills:
  1. Proficiency in NVH signal analysis techniques:
     1. FFT (Fast Fourier Transform)
     2. Order tracking
     3. Spectrogram / Waterfall plots
  2. Basic understanding of:
     1. Transfer Path Analysis (TPA)
     2. Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS)
  3. Ability to interpret:
     1. Frequency peaks, harmonics, excitation orders
  4. Capability to correlate test results with physical phenomena
  5. Suspension Characteristics tuning, Support model tuning MBS, Vehicle Dynamics models.
