Deputy Manager - Vehicle Validation

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Key Responsibilities

Material Validation

  • Evaluate prototype and production parts to ensure compliance with design, engineering, and material specifications.
  • Support quality evaluation of components received from suppliers and internal development teams.
  • Verify conformance of materials with engineering drawings and material standards.
  • Assess material suitability for vehicle development builds and testing programs.
  • Support prototype part approval activities prior to vehicle build execution.
  • Conduct incoming quality inspections and audits for critical vehicle components.
  • Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
  • Monitor consistency of material properties during mass production.

Metallurgical Testing & Analysis

  • Perform and support:
    • Chemical Composition Analysis
    • Microstructure Evaluation
    • Hardness Testing
    • Tensile Testing
    • Impact Testing
    • Coating Thickness Evaluation
    • Heat Treatment Verification
    • Corrosion Assessment
    • Weld Quality Evaluation
  • Prepare metallographic specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Interpret metallurgical test results and provide technical recommendations.
  • Ensure testing is conducted as per standard operating procedures and specified requirements.

Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation

  • Participate in investigations related to component failures observed during:
    • Vehicle testing
    • Durability testing
    • Manufacturing processes
    • Customer field issues
  • Conduct:
    • Fracture Analysis
    • Wear Analysis
    • Corrosion Analysis
    • Welding Defect Investigations
  • Utilize analytical techniques to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Material Laboratory Operations

  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and utilization of metallurgical laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain testing records, reports, and laboratory documentation.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements.
  • Coordinate with external laboratories for qualification and specialized testing activities.

Supplier Quality Support

  • Review supplier material certifications and test reports.
  • Support supplier process audits related to materials and metallurgy.
  • Investigate supplier quality concerns involving material defects.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with automotive quality standards and specifications. 

Experience

M.E / M. Tech- Mechanical/Metallurgy Engineering
