Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Position: Manager - Electric Vehicle Homologation & Certification
Serving Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited's Product Development division, the role is centred within the Validation department. This role requires in-depth expertise in the certification processes for electric vehicles and combustion engine vehicles, specifically focused on CMVR & ECE certification for 3 wheelers and 4W cargo carriers (N1 category).
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
- Conduct thorough reviews and interpretations of AIS, IS, ECE, and EEC regulations to guide certification efforts effectively.
- Maintain and strengthen professional relationships with certification authorities such as ARAI, iCAT, GARC, VRDE, VCA, IDIADA, and TUV, ensuring seamless coordination.
- Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and detailed plans for certification-related projects, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
- Assess the impact of vehicle and design modifications on certification compliance at both system and vehicle levels.
- Directly oversee and participate in certification testing activities, including planning and execution at certification agencies.
- Monitor regulatory developments proactively to prepare the organisation for upcoming standards and ensure adherence throughout development phases.
- Coordinate internal certification processes by collaborating with manufacturing quality assurance (MQA), supplier quality assurance (SQA), and plant teams to facilitate periodic audits and compliance validation.
- Prepare and update necessary documentation and certification submission packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness to expedite approval times.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the certification team, including mentoring executives up to Deputy Manager levels, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
This position reports directly to the Manager within the Validation department and plays a pivotal role in assuring all electric and combustion engine vehicles conform to mandatory and voluntary certification standards, thereby supporting Mahindra's innovation and market readiness.
Experience
Experience & Expertise:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience in homologation and automotive certification, with a strong preference for candidates having experience in electric vehicle segments.
- Proven track record in vehicle certification processes, particularly with CMVR & ECE certifications applicable to 3-wheelers and light commercial vehicles.
- Expertise in automotive regulatory frameworks including AIS, IS, ECE, EEC, and comprehensive knowledge of certification sequencing and documentation.
- Hands-on experience in coordinating with national and international certification bodies, ensuring compliance across all stages from component approval to final vehicle certification.
- Proficient in planning and managing certification testing activities, both in-house and at external laboratories or certification agencies.
- Strong understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation operational protocols in relation to vehicle testing and validation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to achieve certification goals.
Additional experience in budget management, project planning for certification timelines, and navigating evolving regulatory environments will be highly regarded.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle certification standards and regulations such as CMVR, AIS, IS, ECE, and EEC.
- Demonstrable expertise in homologation procedures and regulatory testing methods.
- Proficiency in handling technical documentation and preparing certification submission packages.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and data acquisition systems used in vehicle testing environments.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills complemented by excellent communication abilities.
- Project management skills including preparation of budgets, timelines, and coordination with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely certifications.
Professional certifications related to vehicle safety, quality management, or project management will be advantageous.
