Lead Engineer - VCU

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Key Tasks and Deliverables

  • Design and develop advanced control algorithms for Vehicle Control Units (VCU) in electric powertrains (ePT) using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.

  • Calibrate EV control system functions to optimize performance, driveability, energy efficiency, and charging behavior.

  • Conduct vehicle-level simulations and calibrations for torque path, thermal management, and energy management systems.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, software development, validation teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration.

  • Execute model simulations, validation, and auto-code generation using industry-standard tools.

  • Perform requirement analysis and maintain traceability using Polarion or DOORS.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards throughout development and validation cycles.

  • Lead supplier technical deliverables and manage project timelines and quality.

  • Analyze and resolve issues from field, validation, HIL, build, and plant environments.

 

Critical Must-Have Deliverables

  • Validated and production-ready control algorithms for VCU (ePT).

  • Calibrated vehicle functions including pedal map, creep control, adaptive cruise control, ABS/ESP intervention, and torque limits.

  • Compliance documentation aligned with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards.

  • Functional validation reports using tools like INCA, Canoe, and dSPACE.

  • Traceable requirements and calibration test plans using Polarion or DOORS.

 

Good-to-Have Deliverables

  • Calibration support for ADAS, 4-Quadrant drive systems, and energy storage systems.

  • Enhancements to embedded software architecture and microcontroller integration.

  • Contribution to innovation in EV driveability and range optimization.

  • Development of internal knowledge repositories and calibration libraries.

 

Experience

  • 9–10 years of hands-on experience in EV/HEV control systems, calibration, and model-based development.

  • Proven track record in vehicle-level testing, diagnostics, and embedded software validation.

 

Industry Preferred

  • Automotive OEM R&D

  • Tier 1 automotive suppliers

  • EV/HEV development and calibration teams

 

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering.

  • Specialization in Control Systems, Embedded Systems, or Vehicle Dynamics preferred.
