Lead Engineer - VCU

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Key Tasks and Deliverables

  • Perform calibration of electric vehicle control system functions for performance, range, driveability, thermal efficiency, and charging systems.
  • Execute vehicle-level simulations and calibrations for torque path, energy management, thermal management, and driveability.
  • Lead calibration of pedal maps, creep control, adaptive cruise control, tip-in/tip-out, acceleration, ABS/ESP intervention, speed limitation, and torque limits.
  • Conduct requirement analysis and maintain traceability using Polarion/DOORS.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 26262, ASPICE, AUTOSAR, and other automotive standards.
  • Utilize CAN, LIN, UDS diagnostic protocols and work with tools such as Canoe, INCA, and other calibration/validation tools.
  • Coordinate with architecture, software, validation teams, and suppliers for timely delivery.
  • Analyse issues across field, vehicle validation, HIL, build, and plant stages; drive resolution.
  • Support range assessments, dyno testing, and certification activities.
  • Lead calibration planning, review cycles, and release management for EV/HEV platforms.

Critical Must‑Have Deliverables

  • End‑to‑end calibration ownership for torque path, driveability, thermal management, and energy management.
  • Accurate simulation and validation of EV/HEV control systems.
  • Compliance documentation aligned with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards.
  • High-quality calibration reports, traceability matrices, and validation documents.
  • Effective technical coordination with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • On‑vehicle testing capability across climatic and durability conditions.

Good‑to‑Have Deliverables

  • Exposure to ADAS, 4‑quadrant operations, and advanced energy storage systems.
  • Experience in embedded software workflows and microcontroller-based ECUs.
  • Preparation of certification documentation and homologation support.
  • Contribution to roadmap development for next‑gen EV calibration strategies.

Experience

13–16 years of experience in EV/HEV calibration, vehicle dynamics, control systems, or related domains.Hands‑on calibration of ECU/VCU/BMS functions using INCA, Canoe, dSPACE, ETAS, MathWorks tools.Proven experience in vehicle-level testing, debugging, and validation.

Industry Preferred

Automotive OEM R&DTier‑1 suppliersEV/HEV system development & calibration companiesHigh‑performance electric mobility engineering firms

Qualifications

B.E/B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related fields.Specialization in control systems, vehicle dynamics, or embedded systems preferred.
