Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Design and develop comprehensive suspension, steering and powertrain mount systems, focusing on vehicle dynamics and NVH, for electric and ICE vehicles, with testing expertise considered advantageous.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of suspension systems, steering systems, and powertrain mounts into the overall vehicle design.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in hardpoint finalization, ride calculations, Suspension Kinematics and Compliance, understeer budget, steering kinematics, load transfer and control, vehicle dynamics target setting for system level and vehicle level, critical speed calculation, and vehicle tuning to achieve optimal ride and handling performance
  • Conduct engineering analyses and simulations to assess suspension system performance across various operating conditions and loads
  • Optimize vehicle performance by fine-tuning vehicle parameters through mathematical modelling of quarter car/half-car/full car models using MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to suspension, steering, and powertrain mount design, performance, and manufacturing.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance suspension, steering, and powertrain mount system design, performance, and efficiency.
  • Specialize in rubber mount design, conducting 6DOF analysis to meet KED% targets, determining natural frequency of mount systems, assessing dynamic stiffness, damping, Tan Delta, and ensuring mount durability meets target life requirements.
  • Lead daily engineering meetings, providing input and coordinating team efforts.
  • Plan short-term and long-term engineering resource requirements.
  • Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and validate suspension components and systems using both virtual and physical methods.
  • Ensure the approval of all designs and drawings before they are released for manufacturing.
  • Develop timing plans for engineering activities and support overall project plans from the PM team.
  • Facilitate engineering design reviews, CAE reviews, project meetings, and cross-functional discussions to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

General Requirements

- Should have Vehicle dynamics, NVH, Front & Rear Suspension design knowledge in both 3 and 4 wheelers.
- Knowledge of NVH – Rotational machinery vibration, active and passive vibration, pass and in cab noise, NVH regulatory requirements, isolation efficiency, frequency spectrum and waterfall analysis, order -analysis
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modelling and design, particularly CATIA.
- Knowledge in change management ECR/ECN and how the revision change works in Teamcenter.
- Familiarity with automotive testing standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of layout preparation, including suspension and steering system, articulation, and wheel envelope
