Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Design and develop comprehensive Brakes system, focusing on homologation requirements, particularly for electric vehicles to meet vehicle targets and durability expectations.
  • Define the functions of the brake system and its interfaces with the rest of the vehicle systems
  • Calculate and evaluate stopping distance, MFDD, pedal effort, Leverage, brake factor etc.
  • Manage requirements for product variants
  • Develop prototypes, conduct testing, and validate brake components and systems using both virtual and physical methods
  • Analyse test results to redesign and optimize brake systems for peak performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance brake, performance, and efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and vendors to source components and materials for brake system development
  • Generate technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and engineering reports
  • Lead daily engineering meetings, providing input and coordinating team efforts
  • Plan short-term and long-term engineering resource requirements
  • Develop time plans for engineering activities and support in project plans from the PM team
  • Facilitate engineering design reviews, CAE reviews, project meetings, and cross-functional discussions to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to Brake system performance, and manufacturing.

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

General Requirements

  • Should have brake system design knowledge in both 3 and 4 wheelers
  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic brakes required air brake design is add on advantage
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of mechanical and hydraulic brake systems in electric vehicles
  • Proficiency in homologation requirements both domestic and export vehicle
  • Proficiency in material selection for various components such as sheet metal, forging, and casting is essential, along with a solid understanding of basic manufacturing protocols
  • Good understanding of vehicle validation 
  • Proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape
