Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Role Summary
The Vehicle Occupant Package Engineer will be responsible for defining and optimizing vehicle occupant packaging to deliver superior ergonomics, comfort, visibility, accessibility, and regulatory compliance during the vehicle architecture development phase. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to develop occupant accommodation strategies that balance customer expectations, vehicle performance, styling, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop occupant packaging concepts and layouts during vehicle architecture and concept development.
- Define occupant accommodation parameters including seating position, H-Point, eye ellipse, steering, pedal, and control locations.
- Conduct ergonomic and human factors assessments to optimize occupant comfort, accessibility, and visibility.
- Support vehicle architecture development by balancing package targets with structural, styling, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform digital human modeling and occupant package validation using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with Vehicle Architecture, Interior, BIW, Safety, Chassis, Seating, and Styling teams to resolve packaging issues.
- Benchmark competitor vehicles and recommend best-in-class occupant packaging solutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, ergonomic, and regulatory standards throughout vehicle development.
- Support design reviews, package validation activities, and engineering change management.
Experience
- 8 years of experience in Vehicle Occupant Packaging, Vehicle Architecture, Interior Packaging, or Vehicle Integration within an automotive OEM.
- Hands-on experience in vehicle concept development and architecture definition.
- Strong understanding of occupant accommodation, ergonomics, and vehicle packaging principles.
- Experience working on passenger vehicle and/or electric vehicle programs from concept through production

Industry Preferred
