Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- The DMU Lead is the single point owner for vehicle-level digital integration and package convergence. The position ensures that all vehicle systems, aggregates, and structures are integrated within the available package space while meeting performance, manufacturing, serviceability, safety, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- The role drives early identification and closure of package conflicts, architectural issues, and interface mismatches through Digital Mock-Up (DMU), thereby reducing prototype rework, engineering changes, program delays, and development cost.
- Vehicle concept & its DMU generation. Review aggregate designs and ensure functional integration of individual aggregates with each other as well as with vehicle. Resolve critical design, integration & packaging issues.
- Reducing product development time using concurrent engineering tools such as CFT, DMU review, PLM software, DFMEA, DFA, DFM, DFS review with all concern agencies like (Design, proto, manufacturing, testing, service, vendors, marketing etc) at initial product development stage itself
- Establish and maintain effective communications with Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Quality Assurance and Field Service, to see that the product objectives & specifications are continually met.
- Prototyping coordination & Design proposals & its implementation to resolve issues encounter while prototyping.
- Indoor & Outdoor testing Co-coordinator for resolution of testing issues with the help of aggregate owner & testing & proto team.
Key deliverables
a. Vehicle packaging analysis, coordinate with all modules and solving issues related to assembly and interactions between different modules
b. Development and release of L0/L1 architecture layouts.
c. Package strategy and vehicle hardpoint definition.
d. Creation and maintenance of the master vehicle DMU.
e. Ensuring latest CAD integration from all domains.
f. Identification, tracking, and closure of package clashes.
g. Clearance validation across all systems.
h. Architecture freeze, package freeze, and CAD maturity sign-off.
i. Vehicle integration readiness for build phases.
j. Resolution of interface issues between Body, Chassis, Powertrain, EV Systems, EE, Interior, and Manufacturing teams.
k. Serviceability, assembly feasibility, regulatory, and manufacturing clearance reports
l. Responsible for implementation of ECR/ECN in vehicle revisions and making sure that full and multi-level Vehicle CAD and drawings are updated.
m. Interaction with different modules of organization and tracking the part/ drawing release status and ensuring the vehicle release timeline is achieved
n. Responsible for complete EBOM and MBOM management Cross functional team data management and control as per project gateway deliverable
o. Checking the releases documents like 3D & 2D checklists, DFA, DFM, DFMEA etc.
p. Perform vehicle builds planning, coordination, and issue resolution from proto to production releases. Exploring the ideas for cost reduction of vehicle and IQC data compiling.
Experience
a. BE or ME with mechanical with 12+ years of experience in vehicle integration (VI)
b. Should have good product development cycle knowledge to ensure VI activities are delivered on time
c. Proficient in CATIA V5 and good exposure to CAVA so as to guide, mentor, enable the team to prepare packaging proposal, design concepts and DMU analysis
d. Proficient in PDM software specifically, Teamcenter (PDM software)
e. Experience in vehicle integration with good knowledge of design and development background. Experience in making vehicle drawing and assembly.
f. Good analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
g. Skilled in BOM management from scratch to production releases and part releases in TC.
h. Knowledge in change management ECR/ECN and how the revision change works in TC.
i. Must have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail
j. Good knowledge of vehicle systems and its architecture.
k. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
l. Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
m. Experience in electric vehicles with integration and team centre will be an added advantage
