Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an Engineer within the Crash Lab of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Automotive Division, you will play a pivotal role in advancing vehicle safety standards by conducting comprehensive crash and pedestrian impact analyses. Your responsibilities will include:
- Generating detailed correlation reports and performing root cause analyses on safety test data to identify potential improvements.
- Developing and presenting insightful recommendations and innovative solutions to enhance vehicle safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Performing in-depth data, video, and tear-down inspections to validate test outcomes and support homologation efforts.
- Designing and implementing new testing methodologies and analytical approaches to improve testing accuracy and efficiency.
- Applying expertise in crash testing, pedestrian safety assessments, consumer protection protocols, passive safety homologation, and SLED (Simulated Load Event Data) and CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) test procedures.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, design engineering, and external test agencies to ensure alignment on safety objectives and delivery timelines.
- Ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards and maintaining detailed documentation of all test procedures and results.
This role requires a keen analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to innovate in a technically demanding environment, contributing to the safety and reliability of Mahindra & Mahindra's automotive products.
Experience
The ideal candidate will bring 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in a related domain possessing a Bachelor's degree (BE) or 7 years of practical diploma-level experience in automotive safety or crash analysis.
Proficiency with advanced data analysis and simulation tools is essential, including but not limited to:
- Data analysis software such as Diadem for managing and interpreting complex datasets.
- Video motion analysis tools to evaluate dynamic test videos accurately.
- 3D CAD software like Catia for design visualization and modification assessments.
- Finite element analysis programs including HyperWorks to simulate crash scenarios and analyze structural responses.
Experience in working with large datasets while ensuring data fidelity and accuracy is crucial, and familiarity with industry testing standards will be highly advantageous. Practical experience interpreting test results and providing actionable insights will enable you to make significant contributions to product safety development.
Industry Preferred
Preferred background includes professional experience within the automotive industry, particularly in roles connected to Research & Development, design engineering, or calibration of vehicle safety systems.
Such exposure provides valuable insights into homologation processes, regulatory compliance, and the application of rigorous safety standards, all critical to this position's success.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Diploma or a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree specialising in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. A strong foundation in vehicle dynamics, materials science, and safety engineering principles is essential.
Additional certifications or training related to crash test protocols, safety regulations, or specialized software tools will be considered an asset.
