Engineer - PSL

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As an Engineer in the Crash Lab at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal uptime and operational readiness of all test equipment critical to automotive testing processes.

Your key duties will include planning and executing scheduled maintenance, managing calibration cycles in coordination with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and external agencies, and proactively addressing any equipment issues in collaboration with suppliers to ensure timely resolutions.

You will oversee procurement planning for essential spares and consumables, ensuring seamless availability to avoid disruption.

Preparation and configuration of crash instruments and data acquisition systems for various vehicle test scenarios will be a significant aspect of your role.

Furthermore, you will support suppliers during Installation and Commissioning (I&C) activities, providing technical guidance and ensuring strict adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

The role demands a comprehensive understanding of test measuring instruments specific to automotive testing, strong knowledge of automation and electronics, and detailed insights into engine and vehicle components and subsystems.

A thorough grasp of relevant safety and quality standards, crash regulations, and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) requirements is essential to maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in automotive testing environments, with 3 to 4 years of relevant experience for degree holders (BE) and a minimum of 7 years for diploma holders in a similar domain. Experience should encompass hands-on involvement with test equipment maintenance, calibration processes, and supplier interactions.

Prior exposure to R&D, design, or calibration in the automotive sector adds significant value. Proven competency in managing complex instrumentation systems and familiarity with safety and quality assurance protocols in a vehicle testing context will be advantageous.

Industry Preferred

Preferred industry experience includes roles within the automotive sector, particularly in R&D centres, design studios, or calibration teams specializing in vehicle testing and evaluation. Candidates from vehicle testing agencies or recognised automotive research organisations will find this role aligns well with their expertise.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Diploma or a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree majoring in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation. Academic background must be complemented by practical skills in maintaining and calibrating sophisticated testing equipment within automotive environments.
