Assistant Manager- MQA EPT

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Quality Planning & Control:
    • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive quality assurance plans tailored specifically for electric powertrain manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and industry standards.
    • Oversee and monitor in-process inspections and final product evaluations to ensure strict adherence to predefined quality specifications and customer requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate quality considerations early in the development and manufacturing processes.
  • Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
    • Lead structured root cause analysis initiatives, employing advanced problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone diagrams, and the 5 Whys, to identify and mitigate quality issues effectively.
    • Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams including production, design, and supplier quality departments.
    • Facilitate continuous improvement workshops and training to enhance the problem-solving capabilities within the team.
  • Process Audits & Compliance:
    • Conduct regular and thorough process audits ensuring strict compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality management standards.
    • Prepare and support internal and external quality audits, track non-conformities diligently, and coordinate timely corrective actions and follow-ups.
    • Ensure continual conformance with evolving regulatory and industry standards and update quality processes accordingly.
  • Supplier Quality Interface:
    • Partner with supplier quality teams to maintain and enhance the quality of incoming materials through rigorous inspection and evaluation processes.
    • Lead or participate in supplier audits and development programmes to foster supplier quality improvement and compliance.
    • Establish strong communication channels with suppliers to proactively address quality concerns and improvements.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Compile, analyse and interpret quality data including PPM (Parts Per Million), FPY (First Pass Yield), and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) to identify trends and drive data-driven decision making.
    • Prepare comprehensive quality performance reports and present findings along with improvement recommendations to senior management.
    • Lead initiatives based on customer feedback and warranty data to elevate product quality and customer satisfaction levels.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI):
    • Support the quality planning activities for the introduction of new electric powertrain products, including conducting PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), developing Control Plans, and overseeing PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions.
    • Work closely with product development and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless incorporation of quality standards during the product launch phase.
    • Drive early identification and resolution of potential quality issues during product development.

Experience

  • Experience: A solid background with 5–8 years of practical experience in manufacturing quality assurance, with a strong preference for candidates from the electric vehicle or automotive powertrain sectors.
  • Certifications: Possession of Six Sigma Green Belt certification is highly desirable to demonstrate proficiency in process improvement methodologies; comprehensive knowledge and application of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying quality management systems and tools within complex manufacturing environments with experience in leading audit preparations and corrective action management.
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively across functions to drive quality improvements and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Experience with supplier quality management and new product quality introduction processes is advantageous.

Industry Preferred

Preferred industry experience includes:

  • Automotive industry focusing on electric vehicle manufacturing and powertrain systems.
  • Manufacturing sectors with stringent quality requirements and complex assembly processes.
  • Industries embracing modern quality standards like IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 within automotive supply chains.
  • Companies prioritising innovation in electric mobility solutions and sustainable vehicle technologies.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognised institution is required, ensuring a strong foundational knowledge relevant to powertrain systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced education or technical certifications in quality management, automotive systems, or related fields would be considered advantageous.
  • Ongoing professional development and commitment to staying current with industry standards and emerging technologies are highly encouraged.

General Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of electric powertrain architectures, components, and manufacturing challenges specific to the automotive sector.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of key quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), and 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Hands-on experience operating and interpreting results from quality inspection instruments and equipment used in manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable quality improvements.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clear presentation of quality findings and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership qualities fostering a positive, inclusive, and proactive work culture.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks effectively, and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
