Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd invites applications for an experienced and dynamic Manager - Materials Management to join our Construction Equipment business unit. This pivotal role focuses on overseeing the comprehensive materials management function for Electrical and Proprietary parts, driving cost efficiency, supplier engagement, and strategic development.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in multidisciplinary collaboration, working closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and finance teams, ensuring seamless supply chain operations that support product innovation and market competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Development: Develop and implement effective strategies for cost control and reduction while maintaining quality standards for electrical and proprietary components.
- Material Management: Lead the end-to-end management of materials including planning, procurement, inventory control, and timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Supplier Management: Build and nurture relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts and terms, and ensure supplier performance aligns with company standards and expectations.
- Budgeting & Vendor Development: Manage budgets for electrical and proprietary parts, identify and onboard new vendors, and enhance vendor capabilities through targeted development programs.
- Market Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date awareness of innovations in the aggregate market and new technologies relevant to electrical and proprietary parts to support continuous improvement and competitive advantage.
- Strategic Initiatives: Lead and execute cross-functional projects with visible impact, aligning materials management with broader organisational goals and growth strategies.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to supplier sites, vendor meetings and other business locations to support supply chain activities.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in materials management with specific expertise handling electrical and proprietary parts within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proven track record in supplier management, negotiation skills, and vendor development.
- Strong analytical and budgeting capabilities combined with hands-on experience in cost management and material planning.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives that deliver tangible business results.
- Keen understanding of market trends and new technological advancements in relevant product categories.
- Capacity to operate flexibly, including travel requirements, to meet business objectives.
