Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Manager of Product Quality Assurance (PQA) for Born Electric Vehicles at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for a critical role within the automotive division, specifically focused on enhancing the quality assurance processes for electric vehicles. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing and resolving external customer complaints by leveraging warranty analytics, conducting graphical data representation, and engaging with dealers to achieve logical conclusions and effective solutions.
  • Leading cross-functional teams (CFT) to perform Gemba analysis, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing actionable strategies across manufacturing, aggregate, and supplier processes.
  • Utilising your extensive knowledge of vehicle systems to troubleshoot and identify root causes of quality failures, ensuring a robust response to issues.
  • Demonstrating expertise in wiring layouts and interfaces within vehicles, ensuring accuracy in quality assessment.
  • Planning and executing comprehensive dealer and yard audits to uphold quality standards.
  • Overseeing resource allocation and monitoring during Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) audits of vehicles to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Adapting inspection plans based on feedback from the field to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Facilitating capability building among blue-collar workforce for enhanced product evaluation capabilities.
  • Maximising resource utilisation through diligent cost management strategies for both revenue and capital expenditures.
  • Acting as the champion for the Apex Quick Concern Resolution Team (QCRT) to ensure swift resolution of quality concerns.
  • Ensuring the alignment of systems and processes with ISO/TS 16949 standards, functioning as the Management Representative (MR) for the quality function within the department.
  • Compiling and documenting lessons learned for new projects to promote learning and avoid past pitfalls.
  • Monitoring project quality status for all pertinent quality indicators, ensuring rigorous adherence to quality metrics.
  • Executing Level Specific Process (LSP) audits for new products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Coordinating the calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies of gauges and equipment as per established plans.
  • Releasing weekly and monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports detailing the health status of the production shop.
  • Pursuing benchmarking opportunities and facilitating horizontal deployment of best practices and innovative initiatives.

Experience

We are seeking an experienced professional with a solid background in quality management within the automotive industry, specifically regarding electric vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in ensuring quality and compliance within automotive manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on electric vehicle systems.
  • Proven track record of leading quality assurance initiatives and participating in cross-functional teams to improve overall product quality.
  • Experience in customer complaint resolution and the ability to analyse warranty data effectively.
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, standards such as ISO/TS 16949, and the ability to apply these in real-world scenarios.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to vehicle systems, including knowledge of electronic and electrical components.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, including dealers and customers.

Industry Preferred

Experience within the electric vehicle sector is preferred, as it entails a nuanced understanding of vehicle technology and market dynamics. Candidates with backgrounds in the following industries will excel:

  • Automotive Manufacturing
  • Quality Assurance or Quality Control within automotive sectors
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering focusing on automotive applications
  • OEM and Tier 1 Supplier Experience

Qualifications

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Specialized training or certifications related to quality assurance processes and methodologies will be considered an asset.
  • Ongoing professional development in quality tools and techniques related to automotive manufacturing.
