Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Perform advanced Mould Flow Analysis focusing on optical plastics (PMMA, PC, PC+ABS), predicting potential moulding defects such as birefringence, stress concentrations, shrinkage, warpage, and surface quality issues critical for optical clarity.
  • Conduct detailed Thermal Simulations to evaluate cooling efficiency, cycle time optimization, and thermal stresses within tooling and moulded parts, especially for transparent and optical-grade plastics.
  • Collaborate closely with design and tooling teams to recommend design modifications that improve moldability, optical quality, and manufacturability of lighting components.
  • Support tool trials by monitoring and analysing moulding conditions, optical quality, and dimensional accuracy; validate simulation predictions with physical trial results.
  • Analyse tool trial data and troubleshoot process issues related to plastic flow, cooling, and part quality, with a focus on optical performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of simulation models, trial data, and process improvements.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, production, quality, and suppliers to integrate simulation-driven improvements into the product development and manufacturing process.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in simulation tools, optical plastic behavior, and automotive lighting manufacturing technologies.
