Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the TCP accountabilities owner for your designated commodity, you will ensure seamless end-to-end delivery of projects, maintaining the highest standards throughout the product lifecycle. Your core deliverables will encompass:
- Project Management and Coordination: Lead and coordinate technical sign-offs, synthesize quotes, and rigorously manage adherence to project timelines. Participate actively in feasibility studies and conduct comprehensive risk assessments to ensure project objectives are met on schedule and within scope.
- Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD): Champion cost reduction by achieving material cost targets and managing budgeted investments prudently. Guarantee that the parts produced meet quality standards, ensuring manufacturability and tooling feasibility. Evaluate supplier capability to consistently fulfill QCD targets and maintain excellence through rigorous oversight.
- Process and Compliance: Adhere strictly to MPDS gateways, ensuring all Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Part Submission Warrant (PSW) procedures are thoroughly completed by delivery teams. Collaborate closely with Centres of Excellence (COEs) to ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Capacity and Volume Planning: Align part capacity with projected volume forecasts and synchronize efforts with design teams to ensure first-time-right delivery. Monitor manufacturing capacity to avoid bottlenecks and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive Management Information Systems (MIS) to track project progress, analyze data trends, and deliver insightful progress updates to all stakeholders. Prioritise and monitor key metrics such as HIHR (High Impact High Risk), MIMR (Material Inspection Material Rejection), and LILR (Low Impact Low Risk) alongside the delivery team.
- Support and Collaboration: Proactively seek and provide timely support from the Home Commodity team to achieve TCP targets and deliverables. Work hand-in-hand with COEs to facilitate smooth technical sign-off processes and resolve challenges efficiently.
- Discretion and Escalation: Exercise sound judgment in escalating critical issues. Escalate delayed Statement of Requirements (SOR) releases to Corporate Planning Heads (CPH) through Project Planning Heads (PPH). Inform PPH and Commodity Heads immediately upon delayed part development to facilitate debottlenecking. Highlight Operational Readiness Challenges (ORC) to Design Teams and PPH with respect to Engineering Change Notices (ECN) when applicable.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess 7 to 10 years of progressive experience, focused predominantly on the development and management of tractor parts within the forging domain. This experience should encompass a robust understanding of project lifecycle management, supplier coordination, and quality assurance protocols.
The candidate should have a proven track record in the successful coordination of complex projects, specifically within tractor or automotive manufacturing environments, and a deep familiarity with commodity-specific engineering requirements including casting, forging, and sheet metal.
Experience with cross-functional collaboration, driving continuous improvements, and managing supplier relationships at an advanced level is essential. Practical knowledge of production approval processes and material testing procedures will be highly advantageous.
Familiarity with industry tools such as SAP and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data management and reporting is expected to enable effective decision-making and communication.
Industry Preferred
Preferred industry experience involves working within the tractor manufacturing sector or the wider automotive industry. Exposure to the development of tractor parts related to forging, casting, and sheet metal commodities will provide the necessary technical foundation for success in this role.
Candidates having prior experience in farm equipment manufacturing or heavy machinery components design and development will be particularly valued. This sector knowledge allows for a stronger appreciation of the specific performance, durability, and compliance standards required for agricultural machinery parts.
Understanding of industry standards, compliance requirements, and emerging trends within tractor and automotive production environments will be greatly beneficial and is preferred.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a formal engineering degree, specifically a Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from a recognised and accredited institution, with a preference for regular full-time programmes to ensure comprehensive technical grounding.
Additional certifications or training related to project management, quality systems (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO standards), and supply chain management will be considered advantageous, enhancing the candidate's capability to manage complex projects and compliance requirements effectively.
Technical qualifications should demonstrate sound understanding of manufacturing processes for forging, casting, and sheet metal components, along with proficiency in tools and methodologies relevant to tractor parts development.
General Requirements
We seek candidates with strong experience in Tractor Parts Development, with a specialised focus on Casting, Forging, and Sheet Metal commodities. Practical expertise in design validation, testing, and performance optimization of tractor parts is essential.
Technical proficiency in Excel is critical for data analysis, variance tracking, forecasting, and detailed reporting, providing insight-driven project control. Candidates with SAP experience will be preferred, particularly those familiar with materials management, procurement integration, and resource planning modules.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and implement robust corrective actions are expected.
Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, facilitating collaboration across cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and suppliers.
Leadership experience is necessary to guide multidisciplinary teams, foster teamwork, and drive project completion within set milestones and quality standards.
Additional qualities sought in candidates include:
- Strong planning, scheduling, and project management capabilities to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, staying updated with advancements in tractor engineering and manufacturing technologies.
- Deep understanding and adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
This role demands a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges, ensuring compliance, and achieving superior product performance in line with strategic goals.
