Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an Assistant Manager - SEL within our Product Development team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of system-level testing. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Designing and executing comprehensive system-level tests following Detailed Validation Plans (DVP) and Robust Work-Up Procedures (RWUP).
- Developing and automating test rigs incorporating PLC programming to streamline operations and improve accuracy.
- Setting up new test configurations tailored to project-specific requirements in alignment with RWUP standards.
- Preparing DVP documentation, obtaining test sign-offs, and actively participating in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) sessions to mitigate risk.
- Conducting thorough customer complaint evaluations and simulating field failures to pinpoint and resolve issues proactively.
- Applying environmental and functional testing methodologies to ensure durability and compliance with specifications.
- Utilising Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) for precise measurements of parameters such as strain, displacement, pressure, and flow.
- Designing and overseeing fabrication of modular fixtures with a focus on first-time accuracy and efficiency.
- Preparing detailed test plans and executing them meticulously under 24x6 operations, including shift monitoring and coordination.
- Collaborating closely with maintenance teams to ensure optimum rig uptime through preventive maintenance and management of critical spares.
- Establishing and refining new test procedures to continuously enhance testing effectiveness according to RWUP.
- Complying with and supporting internal quality standards including NABL accreditation, Environmental Management Systems (EnMs), and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) audit processes.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior testers to foster team development and skill enhancement.
- Employing 2D and 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD and CATIA for designing test fixtures and validating setup layouts.
Your role will be pivotal in advancing our product quality and reliability, contributing directly to our commitment towards excellence in automotive technology.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech) with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 6 years of hands-on exposure in system-level testing and automotive applications.
- For senior roles, candidates with 5 to 6 years (BE/B.Tech) or 8 to 10 years (Diploma) of professional experience will be considered, emphasizing depth and breadth in testing practices.
- A solid understanding of automotive systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, complemented by practical knowledge in robotic operations and programming.
- Experience in handling complex test setups, familiarity with automation processes, and effective troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in using testing tools and software for data acquisition and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic environments, supporting 24x6 shift operations with a focus on consistency and quality outcomes.
Industry Preferred
We prefer candidates with experience in the automotive industry, specifically those familiar with the demands and standards of automotive engineering and manufacturing.
Experience working within Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or Tier 1 suppliers will be highly advantageous, as will familiarity with automotive quality standards, testing protocols, and compliance requirements.
An understanding of evolving automotive technologies, including electric and autonomous vehicle systems, will be regarded as a significant asset.
Qualifications
Educational qualifications required include:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE/B.Tech) from a recognized institution.
- Diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering with substantial, relevant practical experience are also encouraged to apply.
Additional certifications or training in automation, PLC programming, CAD tools, and quality management systems will be beneficial to support various aspects of the role.
