Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an Engineer in Dimensional Engineering within Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd’s Automotive Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring precision and quality in the design and manufacturing processes.
- Lead and execute dimensional engineering tasks related to Automotive, Aerospace, and Farm Equipment sectors, focusing on precision measurement and tolerance analysis.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to apply the 10-Step Dimensional Engineering Process to optimise component fit and function across Body-in-White (BIW), Exterior Trim, Chassis, and Seating Systems.
- Utilise advanced CAD tools, particularly CatiaV5, for model creation, assessment, and simulation; leveraging a minimum of three years' experience to enhance design accuracy.
- Apply knowledge of ASME Y14.5 1994/2009 standards to maintain industry-compliant geometric dimensioning and tolerancing across projects.
- Perform variation analysis through software such as 3DCS, VSA, or equivalent, to anticipate and mitigate dimensional deviations, ensuring product reliability and assembly efficiency.
- Support manufacturability reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives by providing detailed dimensional data insights.
- Participate in supplier and vendor discussions to communicate dimensional requirements and resolve measurement-related issues.
- Document and present dimensional reports and findings to engineering management and stakeholders, contributing to strategic decision-making and product development milestones.
Experience
The ideal candidate will bring a robust background in dimensional engineering, particularly within the automotive, aerospace, or farm equipment industries.
- At least 3 years experience using CatiaV5 for mechanical design and dimensional analysis, demonstrating confidence in CAD modelling and interpretation.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with variation analysis tools such as 3DCS, VSA, or similar software, enabling deep understanding of tolerance stack-up and its impact on product quality.
Additional experience with emerging dimensional inspection technologies and automation would be advantageous.
Industry Preferred
Experience in the following sectors will be particularly valuable:
- Automotive Industry: Involvement in vehicle component design, body structure dimensional analysis, and assembly process tolerance management.
- Aerospace Sector: Exposure to high-precision dimensional control and regulatory compliance in aircraft component manufacturing.
- Farm Equipment Manufacturing: Practical knowledge of robust design and dimensional considerations in heavy machinery engineering.
- Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering: Experience with dimensional quality assurance and process improvement within complex production environments.
Working with leading OEMs or suppliers in these industries strengthens the candidate’s practical insight and adaptability to dynamic engineering challenges.
