Engineer- Electric Tractor & Alternate Fuels Platform

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Evaluate Product proposal and Customer requirement covert into functional design inputs.
  • Manage complexity in EV Variants, including battery configurations and have a clear product variant management.
  • Define vehicle architecture for new electric platforms and finalize vehicle hard points to establish design boundaries between electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support the platform team from project kickoff through final design release, ensuring alignment with EV-specific development milestones.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks through technical design reviews, especially around high-voltage safety, EMI/EMC, and thermal management.
  • Lead target setting and boundary definition for aggregates such as EPT (Battery, motor, inverter, and control systems) based on product attribute leadership and functional input targets.
  • Understand implement suitability and set design targets for electric power delivery, torque characteristics, and duty cycles.
  • Approve design releases and ensure product design meets TCP targets for electric tractors.
  • Understand project requirements and milestones and communicate program engineering about status and drive decision making.
  • Participation in QFD to conclude Product concept & Design Concept.
  • Benchmark competitor electric tractors and hybrid platforms to set competitive targets and design boundaries.
  • Evaluate Ergonomics on operator workspace, access, entry & exit to finalize the ergo layout and fixing up Hard points of all integrated systems.
  • Participation in Mockup evaluation with Jury, capturing feedback and ensuring implementation in design.
  • Analyze physical & Functional interface issues, develop engineering solutions, and utilize a trade-study approach to recommend the solution that best meets the Customer’s needs.
  • Integrate Studio surface with the Engineering criteria by executing the Decision Fixed Point Process, considering EV-specific packaging constraints.
  • Balance engineering, performance, and manufacturability to allow creative design within EV architecture bandwidth
  • Lead virtual integration of electric vehicle systems including digital mockups and simulation of electrical interfaces.
  • Approve architecture design with subsystem mockups to ensure physical and electrical environment is comprehended in program decisions.

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years in the tractor industry, with 2 to 3 years in electric vehicle development preferred.

Industry Preferred

Automotive / Farm Equipment Sector

 

Qualifications

  • B.E. / B. Tech or M.E. – Mechanical or Automotive or Electrical Engineering.

General Requirements

  • Experience in EV architecture integration and electric powertrain packaging.
  • Previous experience in a Vehicle packaging and knowledge about Field applications.
  • Understanding of ergonomics requirements.
  • Familiarity with national and international vehicle regulations.
  • Overall knowledge on Tractor integrated systems, controls and implements.
  • Proficiency in DFA, DFS, DFMEA with EV-specific considerations.
  • Structured Knowledge management on Lessons learnt, Risk identification & issues capturing
  • Experience in full vehicle design from concept to production, preferably in electric or hybrid platforms.
  • Able to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural team.
  • Cross functional design experience. Substantial assembly knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge about the agricultural & tractor mechanics.
  • Basic Knowledge of Electric Power Train Components, Transmission & Hydraulics

    Core Competencies:

  • Proficient in NX10, Creo for EV packaging and integration.
  • Experience with Teamcenter & Visualization mock-up.
  • Knowledge of overall vehicle statutory/homologation requirements.
  • Understanding of assembly and serviceability requirements for electric tractors.
  • Knowledge on field application and farmer driving habits/usage pattern.
  • Knowledge in New Product Development and design release process.
  • Proficient in Interface Management, layout packaging & analytical skills.
