Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Graduate Engineer Trainee (Mechanical) within the Product Development division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will engage in a comprehensive, structured training program that combines technical, practical, and leadership development. You will gain hands-on experience by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including product development, manufacturing, quality assurance, and operations. Your contributions will be directly linked to the execution of key engineering projects that drive innovation and product excellence.

Your training will cover fundamental engineering principles such as Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics, and Basic Statistics. You will develop skills in problem analysis, design thinking, concept generation, and detailed design, focusing on innovative problem-solving methods.
Project management basics and industrial engineering concepts will provide you with essential tools for efficient execution of projects. Key technical areas include mechanism design, gears, shafts, subsystem design, and computer-aided engineering (CAE) with an emphasis on durability and fatigue theory. You will also explore material selection, vehicle system validation, and architectural design, with specific focus on transmission and hydraulic systems.

Looking ahead, you will be introduced to emerging competencies in Machine Learning, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics, preparing you for the future of engineering within the agricultural machinery sector.

Experience

This position welcomes fresh graduates who have recently completed their undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. While prior industry experience is not required, a strong foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and eagerness to learn are essential.

Internships or academic projects related to product development, vehicle systems, or manufacturing processes are advantageous, demonstrating practical exposure and problem-solving capabilities. Candidates who have engaged in multidisciplinary teams, shown leadership during academic or extracurricular activities, and displayed adaptability to new technologies will be well positioned to succeed.

Industry Preferred

Ideal candidates come from academic backgrounds focused on Mechanical Engineering with interests in sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, agriculture machinery, and research and development. Those who have been exposed to or shown interest in product development, operations management, quality assurance, and innovative technology integration are highly encouraged to apply.

While previous industrial experience is not mandatory, familiarity with environments that prioritize continuous improvement, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing technologies will be beneficial.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. The qualification should encompass strong theoretical and practical knowledge in core mechanical engineering disciplines.

A focus on engineering design, materials science, manufacturing processes, and systems engineering during your studies will be particularly relevant. Certifications or coursework in project management, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or emerging technologies would be advantageous but are not mandatory.
