Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Role Summary:

Responsible for evaluating product designs for manufacturability and developing efficient, cost‑effective injection mold tooling solutions. 
Should have awareness of various graining processes and a strong understanding of plastic processing techniques.

The candidate should have a good understanding of plastic injection molding processes, including blow molding, 2K molding, back injection, and reverse mold concepts, particularly for automotive trim components.

Should be proficient in 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX (UG NX) and CATIA, with the ability to quickly develop parting lines, lifter designs, and slider mechanisms within short timeframes.

Additionally, the candidate must have strong knowledge of plastic materials and their applications in the automotive plastics domain.

Should have awareness of various graining processes and a strong understanding of plastic processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct feasibility studies for plastic components considering moldability, manufacturability, and cost.
Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturing)  reviews.
Analyze part design for wall thickness, draft angles, undercuts, shrinkage, and gating feasibility.
Identify tooling challenges and recommend design changes.
Coordinate with product design teams to resolve feasibility issues.
Develop detailed 3D CAD models of injection molds including core, cavity, sliders, lifters, cooling channels, and ejection systems.
Design and validate mold layouts, parting lines, shut-offs, and draft analysis using CAD tools.
Maintain design standards, libraries, and templates for tooling components.
Define gating systems, runner layouts, cooling circuits, and venting strategies.
Design mechanisms like sliders, lifters, collapsible cores, and inserts.
Support mold flow analysis and interpret simulation results.
Work with toolmakers and suppliers during mold manufacturing.
Participate in design reviews and tool trials (T0, T1, etc.).
Troubleshoot molding issues and implement corrective actions.
Prepare and maintain design documentation, checklists, and reports.
Ensure compliance with internal and customer standards.
Support PPAP, FMEA, and validation documentation.

Experience

2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Trims - Development

Industry Preferred

Tool manufacturing & Tier-1 suppliers 

Qualifications

Diploma from CIPET / NTTF
BE in mechanical engineering / polymer science.
