Lead Engineer - Body Systems CoE

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Experience in Sheet metal design of Upper Body / Closures / Underbody / Cargo / Body fittings
Liason with the studio, manufacturing and other CFTs to reach critical design decisions.
Demonstrates in depth knowledge of all the system specific CAD modules using CATIAV5 ( Surface modeling (GSD), Solid modeling ,
Assembly design,Functional Tolerancing & Annotations,Drafting ) to create effective detailed concepts and separate modules to create add on details like - annotation (
FTA ), 2D Drawings, Kinematics ( Closure specific ), Joint data ( ABF/Macro Joint Creation ) etc. 

In depth knowledge of parametric models for complex parts/ sub-assemblies by incorporating the right dimensions

Generates multiple alternatives of Master sections based on Vehicle Architecture, benchmarking, strength requirements and other system constraints

Defines parameters & creates decision matrix for part/assembly. Analyzes and evaluates proposals based on the
decision matrix. Recommends proposals for the sub system that meets functional requirements.

Finalises the sub system design meeting all requirements like Styling data, manufacturing requirements, SAM and
performance, durability and Homologation requirement

Demonstrates understanding of various kinds of sheet metals used in body-in-white structure along with their Mechanical
properties like Yield strength, Tensile strength, % elongation etc. Sets  specific targets with regards to  sheet metal component/ system level solutions
which meets vehicle structural requirements and overall performance targets set for the vehicle program. Ensures
manufacturing feasibility in consultation with manufacturing team. Has the knowledge to design the component/system taking
care of corrosion resistance, raw material availability, joining techniques etc. Has the knowledge of the various cost drivers
in sheet metal design and can advantageously used that for achieving lower cost

To direct small teams in respective domains of vehicle development, and come with solution options for domain problems

To Focus on sustaining strong relationships and encourages self/ team work well with CFT.

Delivers the responsibility of self /own teams to ensure delightful Customer Experience.

Ensures effective planning to translate ideas into actions of self and team with Agility.

Ensures no overrun of time,cost, quality and and other critical parameters as required to remain frugal and meets/exceeds aexpectations without excuses

Ensures self and team members deliver superior performance by helping them to leverage the organisation systems and processes for learning and development, recognition,and communication.

Software Skill Requirement;
Knowledge of CATIA V5 ( GSD,Part Design,Assembly Design,Functional Tolerancing & Annotations,Drafting these tools are must be konwn )
MS Office

Experience

Minimum 10-16 Years in Sheet metal design in automotive industry

 

Industry Preferred

Automotive OEM / TIER 1

BE - Mechanical
