Lead Engineer

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Lead the design and development of PMSM motors for automotive applications (e.g., EV traction motors, auxiliary motors).
  • Analyze and optimize winding configurations (distributed, concentrated, hairpin, etc.) for performance, efficiency, and thermal characteristics.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for motor components such as stator, rotor, housing, shaft, and cooling system using tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
  • Should have good understanding of electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical simulation for Motor design.
  • Support prototype builds and coordinate with manufacturing for design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Perform root cause analysis and engineering change management for motor-related issues during testing and validation.
    • In-depth knowledge of PMSM motor design, winding schemes, and performance tuning.
    • Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., JMAG, ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD) is a strong plus.
    • Strong understanding of automotive standards and motor control principles.
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Hands-on experience in motor testing and performance validation.
    • Exposure to high-voltage system design and integration in EV/HEV architectures.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–6 years of relevant experience in electric motor design, preferably in the automotive sector.

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering.
