Lead Engineer - Design COE ICE

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Assembly Design, Functional Tolerancing & Annotations, Drafting) to create effective detailed concepts. 

Generates multiple alternatives of Master sections based on Engine Architecture, benchmarking, strength requirements and other system constraints. 

Defines parameters & creates decision matrix for part/assembly. Analyses and evaluates proposals based on the decision matrix. Recommends proposals for the sub system that meets functional requirements.

Finalises the sub system design meeting all requirements like vehicle interface data, manufacturing requirements, SAM and performance, durability, and Homologation requirement.

Creates parametric models for complex parts/ sub-assemblies by incorporating the right dimensions.

Demonstrates understanding of various kinds of manufacturing processes used in IC Engine along with their Mechanical properties like Yield strength, Tensile strength, % elongation etc. Designs Casting, Plastic and Sheet metal components / system level solutions which meets engine structural requirements and overall performance targets set for respective projects.  

Ensures manufacturing feasibility in consultation with manufacturing team. Has the knowledge to design the component/system taking care of corrosion resistance, raw material availability, manufacturing techniques etc. Has the knowledge of the various cost drivers
during design and can advantageously use that for achieving lower cost

To Focus on sustaining strong relationships and work well with CFT.

Ensures effective planning to translate ideas into actions with Agility.

Ensures no overrun of time, cost, quality and other critical parameters as required to remain frugal and meets/exceeds expectations without excuses.

Ensures superior performance by leveraging the organisation systems and processes for learning and development, recognition, Inclusiveness, and communication.

Qualifications

Graduate or Post Graduate in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering Stream

General Requirements

In Depth Knowledge on Internal Combustion Engines and Sub Systems for Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Applications.

Hands on Experience on performing Technical Calculations to finalize engine architecture and sub system definitions.

Demonstrates in depth knowledge of all the system specific CAD modules using UNIGRAPHICS / CATIA with skills in Surface modelling (GSD), Solid modelling and Assembly. 

Adequate knowledge in CAE and CFD related to internal combustion engine.

Adequate Knowledge in DFMEA, IFMEA, DFM, DFA and DFS

Delivers delightful Customer Experience.

Ensures no overrun of time, cost, quality and other critical parameters as required to remain frugal and meets/exceeds expectations without excuses.

Ensures superior performance by leveraging the organisation systems and processes for learning and development, recognition, Inclusiveness, and communication.

Component design and development

3D CAD software like UG NX and CATIA

Part detailing, tolerance stack up and GD&T

Knowledge in DFMEA, DFC, DFM and DFS

Documentation and presentation preparation for Audits and Senior Management Reviews

Interaction with Component development team & supplier for part development.

Coordination with CAE for providing inputs for simulation and Review of Results

Root Cause Analysis and Preparation of 8D Reports

Travel - As and When Required based on Project Needs.
