Role Summary
As an Engineer / Lead Engineer – HV Battery Pack (BDU & FPCB Design), you will own critical E&E components from concept through production for high‑voltage battery systems. You will influence system safety, vehicle electrical integrity, and cross‑platform reuse by working closely with suppliers and internal engineering teams. Your decisions will directly impact robustness, manufacturability, and field reliability of electrified vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end design, development, and validation of BDU and FPCB for HV battery systems, ensuring conformance to system and vehicle E&E architecture
- Lead component sizing and electrical design of contactors, fuses, sensors, busbars, and pre‑charge circuits with a focus on safety and performance
- Drive supplier technical governance, including design reviews, deliverable tracking, and TSO release ownership
- Enable cross‑functional integration with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and vehicle teams to achieve system‑level optimization
- Plan and execute DVP, functional validation, and CAN‑based testing using tools such as CANoe and INCA
- Perform DFMEA, DFM, and risk assessments to ensure design robustness, cost effectiveness, and manufacturability
- Support production ramp‑up, resolve field issues using structured RCA, and implement corrective and preventive actions
Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related field
- 5–10 years of experience in HV battery systems, xEV architectures, or automotive E&E design
- Hands‑on experience with BDU, FPCB, or HV power electronics components
- Exposure to automotive development processes, validation cycles, and cross‑functional engineering collaboration
Industry Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience across multiple EV programs or vehicle platforms
- Working knowledge of functional safety concepts (ISO 26262) related to HV systems
- Supplier development or global OEM/Tier‑1 interaction experience
- Exposure to series production and post‑SOP issue resolution
General Requirements
Key Skills & Competencies
- Technical: HV battery E&E architecture, BDU design, FPCB layout understanding, CAN‑based testing, DFMEA/DFM
- Engineering Judgment: Component trade‑offs, safety‑critical decision‑making, risk assessment
- Execution: Ownership mindset, structured problem‑solving, design release discipline
- Collaboration: Cross‑functional coordination, supplier engagement, clear technical communication
- Adaptability to fast‑evolving EV technologies and product timelines
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
- Successful design freeze and validation sign‑off of BDU and FPCB for assigned EV platform(s)
- On‑time completion of DVP and system validation with zero safety‑critical escapes
- Robust supplier deliverables and TSO releases achieved as per program milestones
- Reduced design risks and change cycles through effective DFMEA and upfront engineering
- Smooth manufacturing and launch support with rapid resolution of production or field issues
- Recognition as a dependable E&E owner within the HV battery systems team
