Lead Engineer- Methods

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Lead Engineer in Methods Development at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in advancing engineering processes through data-driven insights and predictive modelling. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Translate engineering problems into analytical models by developing hand calculations, free‑body diagrams, and generalized mathematical equations to support concept evaluation and design decisions.
• Develop Structural and Multiphysics models in COMSOL, including reduced‑order beam models from CAD/mesh data and custom GUI applications using the COMSOL Application Builder.
• Build and execute model‑based simulations for automotive systems using AMESim and GT‑Suite, leveraging detailed component elements and system-level modeling libraries.
• Debug and troubleshoot simulation applications across multiple use cases, ensuring correctness of inputs, outputs, boundary conditions, and system interactions.
• Improve model accuracy and robustness through analysis of physical test data, updating parameters, and refining models as needed.
• Validate simulation applications by correlating results with 3D CAE simulations or physical test measurements to ensure engineering fidelity.
• Perform design iterations and recommend modifications using mathematical models, system-level studies, sensitivity analysis, and optimization techniques.
• Execute DOE studies, parameter sensitivity analysis, and full-vehicle performance simulations to support attribute target setting, issue resolution, and development of 1D simulation methodologies for process improvement.

Experience

You should bring a wealth of practical experience to this position, specifically:

• 3 - 5 yrs of experience in Mathematical Modelling/ Physics based Simulation / Model based simulations.

• Knowledge of CAE deck, pre and post filetype for general CAE software.

• Demonstrated experience in project management, showcasing your ability to drive projects from inception to conclusion while maintaining high quality standards and performance evaluation.

Industry Preferred

Your expertise is especially valued in the automotive OEMs or automotive ancillary or engineering services industry, where your contributions can significantly impact vehicle design and performance. Working in a dynamic environment that encompasses:

• Leading initiatives to integrate & automate advanced simulation methodologies.
• Collaborating with diverse teams focused on innovation and efficiency in automotive development.

Your background in automotive engineering will provide the foundation for understanding the unique challenges and demands of this industry.

Qualifications

We seek a candidate with the following educational qualifications:

B.E/B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, preferably from an esteemed institution like IITs (with a minimum GATE score of 90%) or other reputed engineering colleges.
