Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Lead Engineer at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, your mission will be the comprehensive execution of the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Development Validation Plan (DVP).

  • This role will demand collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring that vehicle NVH levels satisfy all requisite standards throughout the development phase leading to the Start of Production (SOP). Your key deliverables will be centered around executing benchmarking processes and setting robust targets for NVH performance.
  • You will work closely with stakeholders, driving the implementation of NVH recommendations among various processes.
  • Your responsibilities include strategic planning and testing alongside the NVH Cross-Functional Team (CFT) to effectively address both vehicle and system-level NVH requirements, with a focus on areas such as Body in White (BIW) NVH, sound package requirements, trim body NVH, chassis engineering, suspension, tyre NVH, and the effectiveness of mounts and seats.
  • Furthermore, you will engage in active prototype development aimed at resolving NVH issues during the vehicle development phase, demonstrating significant improvements through your efforts.
  • Your role will require you to tackle NVH challenges like noise booming, unwanted vibrations, whine noise, and rattling, ensuring that the vehicle not only meets but exceeds the expected performance standards upon final production.

Experience

  • We are looking for highly skilled candidates with between 3 to 8 years of practical experience in NVH-related roles.
  • A solid understanding of NVH tools is essential, showcasing your proficiency with industry standards including Test Lab and Muller BBM.
  • Familiarity with advanced methodologies such as Acoustic Source Quantification (ASQ), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Transfer Path Analysis (TPA), and Sound Power measurement will be critical.
  • You should also have a comprehensive grasp of vehicle system NVH elements, including powertrain, driveline, components of the chassis, suspension systems, sound packages, mounts, and seating arrangements.
  • This understanding should be particularly applicable during refinement processes in both developmental and benchmarking phases.
  • A keen awareness of emerging technologies and innovative methodologies in NVH will be an asset as you navigate this dynamic sector.

Industry Preferred

The preferred experience for this role resides within the automotive industry, which is vital for a comprehensive understanding of the NVH challenges faced during vehicle development. Familiarity with contemporary engineering practices in this field not only informs your contributions but serves to propel innovation within the team.

Qualifications

A Graduate or Post Graduate degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering is required for this role. Your educational background should equip you with the foundational knowledge necessary to grasp advanced concepts in vehicle dynamics and NVH analysis.

Holding additional certifications or courses related to NVH testing, automotive system dynamics, or noise control engineering will be considered beneficial. Continuous improvement in knowledge through workshops or seminars relevant to automotive engineering trends is also encouraged.
