Lead Engineer - Trims Engineering CoE

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Understand project requirements as per program milestones. (Any automotive OEM Product Development Gateway System)
  • Project delivery related to engineering and design from kick off to implementation including; QFD, benchmarking, feature analysis, engineering, drawing and model preparation & release, CAE and physical validation support, development & implementation support
  • Engineering proposals preparation in consultation with COE / internal external (Supplier) experts.
  • Release of drawings and models in systems with related Quality checks
  • Assign job to team members according to skills and time availability.
  • Organize and manage project activities and reviews with Cross Functional Team, system leads and COE.
  • Preparation of Bill of material with support of designers.
  • Creation and updating of Project documentation related to systems as per MPDS.
  • Initiate and record Prototype and validation related to trims.
  • Support to CDMM and other implementation team for part development and quality initiatives.
  • Integrates and prepares at a system level, key technical documentation for vendor on-boarding like BTP/SoR, ESOW.
  • Identifies all the interfaces of system and maps interface requirements.
  • Reviews and reports progress of project against defined scope, quality, and milestones.

Experience

6 to 10 years of relevant experience in Trims

  • At least one complete project execution experience for a vehicle trim system of: Bumpers & body exterior trims including engineering, design and execution.
  • Exposure to global requirements for Exterior trims.
  • Expertise on plastic component design and knowledge and understanding of tooling.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering and system documents like DFMEA, DVP, DFA, DOE etc.
  • Displays an understanding, interpretation and application of applicable regulations for the Exterior trim system design.
  • Exposure to Catia V5 and engineering data management systems.
  • Exposure to EuroNCAP/ Global NCAP requirements.

Industry Preferred

Automobile OEM or Tier 1 

Qualifications

Graduate in Mechanical / Tool Engineering
