Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Expert in High-Performance Compute & IT Solutions for HPC - Automotive Engineering Design Center
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead high-performance computing (HPC) solutions for our Automotive Engineering Design Center. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in implementing and managing HPC solutions tailored to engineering applications such as Abaqus, Power Flow, Dyna, Nastran, and Altair. This role requires a strong background in both engineering simulation tools and IT infrastructure, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the transformation of our IT landscape to support cutting-edge engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
HPC Solution Design and Implementation - Architect and deploy high-performance computing environments optimized for automotive engineering applications. Ensure seamless integration and operational efficiency of simulation tools like Abaqus, Power Flow, Dyna, Nastran, and Altair. Design & optimize the architecture for HPC IT solutions in a hybrid environment.
IT Infrastructure Management - Manage and optimize IT systems for HPC, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid setups. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure robust infrastructure support for engineering workloads. Design & optimize the complete end to end tech stack for HPC solution design including Slurm, PBS pro, Storage, Machine type & similar solutions. Work with the network teams to optimize network connectivity for running HPC workloads on Cloud / Hybrid environments.
Cloud and Hybrid Transformation - Drive the adoption of cloud-based and hybrid HPC solutions to enhance scalability and performance. Lead the migration of engineering workloads to cloud platforms while ensuring security and cost-efficiency.
Performance Optimization: Analyse and improve the performance of HPC systems to meet the demanding needs of automotive simulations and design processes. Implement strategies for workload balancing, resource allocation, and system tuning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to understand computational requirements and deliver tailored solutions. Liaise with vendors and external partners for software and hardware procurement, licensing, and support.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to teams involved in HPC implementation and IT transformation. Stay updated on emerging HPC technologies and solutions, driving innovation within the organization.
TCO & Budgets: Identify & plan the budget for HPC workloads year on year. Manage the TCO for deployed HPC solutions along with continuous cost optimization.

Experience

10 yrs+

Proven experience in implementing and managing HPC solutions with tools such as Abaqus, PowerFlow, Dyna, Nastran, and Altair.
●Strong expertise in IT infrastructure management, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
●Experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their integration into HPC workflows.
●Solid understanding of engineering simulation processes and computational requirements.
●Familiarity with data storage solutions, networking, and security protocols for HPC systems.
●Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges.
●Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.

General Requirements

Experience in containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for HPC workloads.
●Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash) for system management.
●Understanding of GPU/accelerator-based computing solutions.
