Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a key member of the Product Development team at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be instrumental in shaping cutting-edge tractor designs that excel in functionality and performance. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional departments to identify and mitigate technical risks by leading Technical Design Review (TDR) meetings. Your expertise will translate complex product proposals and customer requirements into precise functional and engineering design inputs, ensuring clarity and alignment across teams.
You will take charge of managing product complexity by developing effective variant management strategies and defining a robust vehicle architecture that satisfies diverse functional requirements. A critical part of your role will involve setting performance targets and engineering boundaries for aggregates informed by product attributes. Rigorous evaluation of implementation compatibility and precise definition of design targets will be essential to meet and exceed customer application needs.
Your responsibilities include overseeing design release activities to guarantee that product development adheres strictly to Technology, Cost, and Performance (TCP) benchmarks. Active participation in Quality Function Deployment (QFD) exercises will be necessary to finalize both product and design concepts that align with market expectations and competitive landscapes. Benchmarking against industry-leading tractor models will help establish clear performance goals, design boundaries, and strategic product positioning.
You will be entrusted with defining tractor hard points, including essential parameters like SIP, Wheelbase, Track Width, FOH, ROH, CG, Stability, 3PL Points, VHF, and weight distribution, ensuring that designs meet optimum standards for stability and functionality. Ergonomics will be a high priority—evaluating operator workspaces, control layouts, and access points to enhance user comfort and operational efficiency.
Participation in both virtual and physical mock-up reviews will provide you with opportunities to capture stakeholder feedback, refine designs, and ensure seamless implementation in the final product. Critical analysis of physical and functional interface challenges, conducting trade-off studies, and recommending engineering solutions will be a cornerstone of your work. Integrating performance, serviceability, manufacturability, quality, and cost considerations is essential to creating well-rounded architecture decisions.
You will support virtual integration efforts and conduct subsystem packaging validations to uphold engineering precision throughout the product development lifecycle. Your collaboration will extend from initial concept stages through to successful product implementation, ensuring that all technical and strategic objectives are met with excellence.
