Date:  7 May 2026
Location:

Chennai, Chennai-MRV(FD), IN

Company:  Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Senior Engineer - Build, you will take ownership of leading comprehensive durability, performance, and homologation verification processes for tractors, ensuring compliance with both domestic and international regulatory standards such as AIS, IS, and ASABE. Your role includes managing in-house and external certification testing, collaborating with test agencies like ARAI, VCA, and CFMTTI to coordinate type approval tests. You will prepare test vehicles, employing advanced data acquisition tools such as Ipetronik, Recovib, V-Box, and Lab View to collect and analyse performance data.

Key responsibilities include conducting critical dynamic tests including drawbar performance, brake performance, noise and speed tests, as well as HVAC, lighting, mirror, and horn installations to validate equipment functionality. You will validate structural strength through torture track testing, perform load car assessments for engine and tyre performance, and oversee water ingress and pit tests to ensure robust vehicle integrity under varied conditions.

Moreover, you will develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal testing protocols to align with evolving industry requirements. You will ensure adherence to NABL accreditation standards and maintain strict safety compliance within the laboratory environment. Your expertise will also be essential in planning and executing milestone-driven test management to meet project schedules efficiently.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in tractor durability, performance, and homologation testing. Extensive experience working with domestic and export test certifications, along with hands-on expertise in vehicle-level vibration and acceleration measurement, is essential.

Proven ability to manage data acquisition systems, various sensors, and CAN-based ECU diagnostics is required to interpret complex test datasets effectively. Experience in coordinating with regulatory test agencies and managing comprehensive vehicle validation projects will be highly advantageous.

Strong analytical skills coupled with technical proficiency in laboratory test execution, data analysis, and reporting are critical to succeed in this role. Previous exposure to the tractor manufacturing or farm equipment industry is preferred to understand sector-specific challenges and compliance frameworks.

Industry Preferred

Preferred industry experience includes roles within prominent tractor manufacturers and farm equipment companies such as Farmtrac, TAFE, Sonalika, Kubota, MONTRA e-Trac, or related agricultural machinery sectors. Familiarity with the operational standards, quality expectations, and innovation trends within the farm and tractor industry will better position candidates for this role.

Experience in companies that prioritize rigorous validation and homologation processes and cultivate robust R&D environments will be particularly relevant. Candidates coming from organizations with a strong emphasis on product development and testing within the agricultural domain will find this role an excellent fit.

Qualifications

A Diploma, Bachelor of Engineering (BE), or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in vehicle systems, testing methodologies, and control systems relevant to agricultural machinery.

Additional certifications or training in homologation standards, data acquisition technologies, or quality management systems will be advantageous. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development is encouraged to keep pace with evolving technology and regulatory requirements.

General Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate thorough knowledge in durability, performance, and homologation verification and testing specific to tractors, aligning with both Indian and international test standards. Mastery of handling diverse data acquisition instruments and sensors, including photoelectric sensors, load cells, fuel flow meters, thermal cameras, and vibration and acceleration measurement tools, is essential.

Proficiency in advanced data management software, such as Excel and presentation tools, is expected for accurate analysis and clear communication of test results. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols within testing environments, and strong organisational capabilities to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously are fundamental.
