Company:  Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Senior Engineer-CAE at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a vital role in the Product Development division, specifically focused on improving vehicle safety, durability, and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performances. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Applying your expertise in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) modelling to create full vehicle runnable Crash, Durability, and NVH Finite Element (FE) models, utilising tools such as Lsdyna, Nastran, DEP, and ANSA.
  • Utilising Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation (MDO) techniques employing Design of Experiments (DOE) and Non-DOE methods to efficiently evaluate all Global Design Verification Plans (DVPs) across Crash, Durability, and NVH domains. You will be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and analysing test results and forming proposals for validation to ensure optimal performance while minimizing weight according to specified load cases.
  • Executing advanced optimisation techniques, including Topology, Topometry, Sizing, and Shape optimisations, using software tools such as Genesis and Optistruct, to contribute significantly to the structural performance of vehicle components.
  • Developing morphing methods and crafting quick concept morphed models, enabling dynamic optimisation pathways utilising DEP and ANSA.
  • Engaging in substructure modelling and applying contemporary methods such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to enhance modelling strategies, as well as implementing low-fidelity modelling techniques for efficiency.

Experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in CAE.
  • A strong foundation in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Mechanical Engineering principles, showcasing a solid understanding of both Global and Local DVPs associated with Crash, Durability, and NVH domains.
  • Familiarity with several analysis types, including Non-linear, Dynamic, Explicit FE-Analysis, Modal Analysis, and Static Analysis. Key analytical skills should cover Dynamic Stiffness, Structure Borne In-Cab noise, Tactile Vibration, and Air Borne Noise, complemented with associated methodologies.
  • Experience with CAE tools such as Hypermesh, modeFrontier, Genesis, Optistruct, Nastran, LMS Virtual Lab, CDtire, Primer, Abaqus, and Meshworks, reflecting a robust capability in the modelling arsenal.

Industry Preferred

The automotive industry is continuously evolving, and a robust expertise in the sector is highly preferred for this role. Experience in the automotive field will greatly enhance your contribution, ensuring:

  • A thorough understanding of current challenges facing automotive engineering, including safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Aframe of reference to the competitive landscape which can influence design and testing processes for vehicle performance optimisation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An M.Tech degree, preferably from IITs or other prestigious institutions, supported by a GATE score exceeding 90%. This academic foundation will equip you with comprehensive theoretical knowledge of engineering principles.
  • A passion for innovation in automotive engineering complemented by a solid aptitude for technical problem-solving and project management.
  • A commitment to professional development, demonstrating a strong desire to advance in automotive engineering knowledge and application.

General Requirements

General requirements for this role include:

  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A team-oriented mindset, showcasing the ability to thrive in collaborative environments across diverse disciplines.
  • Proactive and analytical thinking, with a demonstrated ability to tackle problems critically, especially under pressure.
  • A strong focus on continuous improvement and professional growth within the rapidly evolving landscape of automotive engineering.
