Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Vehicle Performance Definition & Analysis:
Establish vehicle speed targets for various operating conditions and applications.
Define engine torque and power curves based on intended tractor application and market requirements.
Define drivetrain performance targets including:
Drawbar performance
PTO performance
Transport performance
Gradability
Acceleration capability
Develop and monitor vehicle power loss targets across engine, transmission, hydraulic, and driveline systems.
Conduct concept-level performance simulations and trade-off studies.
Benchmark competitor tractors and derive performance targets.
System-Level Engineering Analysis:
Analyze interactions between:
Engine
Transmission
Axles
Hydraulics
PTO systems
Vehicle electronics
Support selection of gear ratios and transmission architectures to achieve optimum vehicle performance.
Evaluate tractor architecture impacts on performance, fuel efficiency, and productivity.
Identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions during development.
Calibration & Electronic Features Support:
Support performance tuning and calibration activities of electronically controlled tractor features.
Review calibration requirements affecting:
Vehicle productivity
Fuel economy
Drivability
Operator comfort
Work with calibration teams to define target operating strategies.
Field Performance Data Analysis:
Analyze field test data, customer usage data, validation test reports, and telemetry data to identify performance gaps.
Correlate field issues with vehicle subsystems such as engine, transmission, hydraulics, PTO, and electronic control systems.
Perform root cause analysis for productivity, fuel consumption, drivability, and performance-related concerns.
Quickly convert field observations into actionable engineering recommendations.
Support field investigation activities and provide technical guidance for issue resolution.
Develop data-driven corrective action proposals and improvement plans.
Tractor Architecture & Hard Point Engineering:
Develop strong understanding of complete tractor architecture.
Define and evaluate critical hard points related to:
Engine integration
Transmission layout
Wheelbase
Ground clearance
Hitch geometry
PTO location
Hydraulic interfaces
Operator station
Support concept packaging and platform development activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Coordinate with Engine, Transmission, Hydraulics, Vehicle Integration, and Validation teams.
Support target cascading from customer requirements to subsystem requirements.
Participate in design reviews and concept feasibility studies.
Experience
3 to 6 years

BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech (Mechanical / Automobile/Mechatronics)
