Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Role Summary
The Electric Powertrain Delivery (Hardware) (Lead / Senior Lead) is responsible for end-to-end ownership of EV Electric powertrain hardware from concept to production. The Electric powertrain scope includes High Voltage Battery Pack, E-Motor / E-Axle, Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), Battery Management System (BMS), and On-Board Charger / DC-DC (OBC/OCDC). The role requires strong hands-on capability, technical leadership, and cross-functional coordination to deliver projects meeting time, cost, and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hardware design and development of Electric powertrain components including HV battery pack, e-motor / e-axle, VCU hardware, BMS hardware, and OBC/OCDC.
- Define and review Electric architecture, specifications, and interface requirements aligned with vehicle and system-level targets.
- Own technical decisions related to power electronics, electric machines, HV safety, EMC/EMI, insulation coordination, and thermal concepts.
- Review and approve schematics, layouts, BOMs, design calculations, and technical documentation.
- Act as technical point of contact for Tier-1 / Tier-2 suppliers including RFQs, design reviews, issue resolution, and change management.
- Plan and oversee DVP&R activities including Electric, thermal, environmental, vibration, and durability testing.
- Support quality assessments, audits, and technical release / clearance activities.
- Provide build support during prototype, pilot, and SOP builds including issue triage and on-site support as required.
- Support field issues and warranty cases through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support manufacturing and industrialization activities including DFM/DFA, end-of-line testing, and production ramp-up.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical capability building.
Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electric / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering.
- 7–12 years of experience in automotive or EV Electric powertrain hardware development.
- Strong fundamentals in power electronics, electric machines, HV systems, and automotive Electric design.
- Experience with schematic and layout reviews, component selection, and validation testing.
- Good understanding of automotive product development processes (APQP, DFMEA, DV/PV).

- Exposure to ISO 26262 functional safety and HV safety concepts.
- Prior experience working with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

- Drive clear alignment with external stakeholders including Product Planning, Validation, Quality, Vehicle Platform, Manufacturing Plant, and Service teams to ensure seamless development, launch, and field performance.
- Own and safeguard the functional image of product delivery, ensuring achievement of key vehicle and customer targets including Range, Driveability, Performance, Powertrain NVH, Durability, Warranty, Safety, and Serviceability.
