Senior Engineer-Engines AD

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The primary purpose of the job position is to develop and calibrate diesel engines/vehicles with a balanced optimisation between performance, NVH, driveability, fuel economy and; emission compliance.


a) Diesel vehicle calibration involving vehicle calibration, drivability, environmental corrections, cold start and error diagnostic management.
b) Develop and implement calibrations for engine mapping of air charge/ governor calibration for turbocharger/egr valve, electric actuation for turbocharger/egr valve, transient performance optimisation eg. Smoke calibration, ASD/dashpot calibration, throttle valve control, Low Idle speed calibration, and engine safety functions eg. overheat calibration, turbocharger protection, after treatment safety functions, exhaust temperature controller calibration etc.
c) Participate in climatic expedition trials (hot ambient/cold ambient/sea level/altitude) and; derive engine management strategy and; calibration solutions for air/charge controllers, transient performance calibration, Performance, NVH etc.
d) Interact with EMS supplier and other key system suppliers for system selection and optimization.
e) Interact with CFT like Vehicle Integration, NVH, Electricals, Performance simulation, Engine development centre, Reliability and Service for engineering targets delivery.
f) Participate in engine controller software meetings. Understand engine control module (ECM) software function and recommend / validate algorithm changes.
g) Plan for the day-to-day calibration activities and maintain a project tracker.
h) Collect and collate benchmark data.
i) Analyse the issues arising out of test to confirm the design by root cause analysis of the problems / issues by using various problem solving tools.
