Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Senior Engineer - CFD will play a pivotal role in our team at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, primarily engaging with various stakeholders such as the HVAC Centre of Excellence (CoE), Power Train Integration CoE, Power Train CoE, and the Vehicle Development team. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the advancement of passenger car projects by delivering top-notch simulations and analyses that enhance vehicle performance and design.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Possessing a solid understanding of the working principles of automobiles.
  • Applying fundamental concepts in Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Conducting finite volume modelling for systems including Full Cabin, Engine, and other critical components.
  • Expertly assigning boundary conditions and material properties to components to ensure accurate simulations.
  • Differentiating between steady and transient simulations while selecting appropriate modes of heat transfer for each scenario.
  • Implementing boundary conditions necessary for both steady and transient analyses.
  • Executing CFD simulations for various components such as Pressure drops, Flow distribution, Intake and Exhaust Manifolds, and more, while performing conjugate heat transfer analysis as needed.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in post-processing results and preparing comprehensive reports for presentation to the design team.
  • Advising on design adjustments to meet acceptance criteria based on analytical results while considering manufacturing and packaging constraints.
  • Being knowledgeable about testing Full Vehicle systems and understanding instrumentation for testing procedures.
  • Correlating CFD results with physical test findings to validate simulation accuracy.

Moreover, you will be expected to provide insights and recommendations that will drive improvements in design and engineering practices, ensuring that we meet both internal standards and customer expectations.

Experience

Applicants should have a robust hands-on experience of 2-3 years in Automotive CFD Simulation, particularly utilizing tools such as Ansa and Ansys Fluent. Your practical experience in executing and managing complex simulations will enable you to contribute effectively to the technical development of our projects.

A proven track record of producing high-quality simulation outcomes and presenting actionable recommendations based on analysis will be crucial. Furthermore, experience in validating CFD results against physical testing scenarios will be highly regarded, showcasing your ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world applications

Industry Preferred

We are specifically interested in candidates with a background in the Automotive industry, particularly those who have thrived in fast-paced environments focused on vehicle design and development. Familiarity with industry standards and practices regarding vehicle performance and CFD simulations will be highly advantageous, enabling you to integrate seamlessly into our team.

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum first-class distinction, which establishes a solid foundation in relevant engineering principles.
  • A Master's degree (e.g., M.Tech or M.E.) in Heat Transfer or Fluid Mechanics, preferably from prestigious institutes such as IITs, which further enhances your theoretical and practical prowess in this domain.
  • A comprehensive understanding of thermal and fluid dynamics principles as they pertain to the automotive industry, equipping you to tackle complex engineering challenges.
