Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Deputy Manager - Buying SCPC (Supply Chain Planning and Control) will play a crucial role in ensuring that all procurement activities align with the strategic goals of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies that are aligned with the overall business objectives while ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Analysing market trends and developing insights to make informed purchasing decisions that optimise supply chain performance.
  • Collaborating closely with various departments, including product development and production, to ensure timely access to products and services.
  • Utilising systems to maintain accurate records of purchases and suppliers, while also monitoring inventory levels to ensure efficient stock management.
  • Conducting regular reviews of supplier performance and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to drive improvements in supply chain processes and enhance customer satisfaction.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with qualifications that include:

  • A Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering, with a focus on Mechanical, Automobile, or Agricultural disciplines.
  • A solid understanding of technical concepts and a commitment to continual learning and professional development in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Relevant training or certifications related to procurement and supply chain strategies would be advantageous.

General Experience

You will have a minimum of four to seven years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within sectors such as the automobile or agricultural industries. Your experience will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and relationship management.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse market data and trends effectively.
  • Experience in managing complex procurement projects and working collaboratively with diverse teams.

Critical Experience

Critical experience that will contribute to your success in this role includes:

  • Hands-on experience in buying processes specifically related to supply chain functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of customer relationship management practices, enabling you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and influence product quality and cost decisions effectively.
  • Exposure to SAP systems and tools, ensuring you can manage purchasing functions efficiently.
