Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager Stores at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will lead and oversee the complete storage function, ensuring seamless management of receiving, storing, issuing, packaging, preservation, disposal, and dispatch activities. You will be responsible for vendor-aid transactions and supplier rejection processes, fostering a culture of safety and compliance within your team at all times. Demonstrable expertise in SAP modules such as MM, SD, and PP will be vital, supporting accurate inventory analysis including perpetual inventory, ageing analysis, and capital asset management.
You will actively manage and control Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) elements like scrap, detention, premium freight, underload, and expiry issues. Efficient planning of IUTN vehicles and dispatch scheduling to meet customer demands is a critical deliverable. Collaborating closely with customer plants and cross-functional teams (manufacturing and support functions), you will ensure processes flow uninterrupted to achieve customer satisfaction and timely delivery.
Effective manpower management is a key aspect, including handling unionized, contract employees, and trainees, whilst driving continuous improvements across the stores team to enhance operational efficiency and quality standards. Your role will include comprehensive revenue spend management and deploying measures to optimally control costs without compromising on quality or service. You will also lead initiatives around green and returnable packaging strategies to support sustainability goals.
Exposure and adherence to international standards such as ISO, TS, TPM, OHSAS, SHE, and ISO 45001 will be essential to guarantee regulatory compliance and uphold a safe work environment. You will champion initiatives to boost team capabilities, promote safety culture, and implement best practices in asset and inventory management, contributing significantly to the supply chain planning & control processes within the Farm Division.

General Experience
The role requires candidates to have a solid general experience spanning 3 to 5 years in stores or inventory management within a manufacturing or automotive environment. During this time, candidates would have developed a strong understanding of storage functions, inventory control, and the use of enterprise resource planning systems, particularly SAP.
Key experience areas include:
- Hands-on experience managing end-to-end store operations including receiving, issuing, and dispatch mechanisms.
- Familiarity with inventory analysis techniques such as perpetual and ageing inventory management to optimise stock levels and minimise losses.
- Exposure to cost control methodologies and techniques to manage Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) effectively.
- Practical knowledge of handling diverse teams encompassing unionized, contractual, and trainee personnel.
- Collaboration experience with multiple cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain planning.
- Understanding of safety protocols and implementation of safety culture within operational teams.

- Proven expertise with SAP modules (Material Management, Sales & Distribution, Production Planning) to ensure accurate inventory management, efficient procurement, and timely dispatches aligned with production schedules.
- Strong competence in inventory analytics, including in-depth knowledge of perpetual inventory management, stock ageing analysis, and management of capital assets to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce obsolescence.
- Experience managing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) components such as scrap management, detention handling, premium freight cost controls, underloading issues, and expiry tracking.
- Thorough understanding and application of international management system standards including ISO (9001, 45001), TS, TPM, OHSAS, SHE to maintain compliance and promote workplace safety.
- Expertise in green packaging and returnable packaging practices contributing to sustainability initiatives and reducing environmental impact.
