Job Purpose

To ensure effective maintenance of plant machinery, utilities, and infrastructure while managing and executing engineering projects, upgrades, and improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance Management

• Formulate and implement a proactive maintenance plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Lead the maintenance teams across mechanical, electrical and specialized equipment’s.
• Develop and manage maintenance schedule to ensure minimal disruption to production activities. Coordinate with production teams to align maintenance activities with production schedule.
• Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for routine tasks.
• Introduce and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Report on key KPI’s to management.
• Ensure minimum downtime and maximum equipment availability.
• Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements.
• Maintain maintenance records, logs, and reports.
• Ensure availability of critical spares and manage inventory.

2. Project Execution

• Lead end-to-end project management for Greenfield and Brownfield manufacturing projects, from feasibility, design, and approvals to commissioning and handover.
• Develop detailed project plans covering scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, Quality, EHS, Procurement, Finance, HR, and IT to ensure project alignment with business objectives.
• Manage civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility works, ensuring compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Oversee vendor selection, contract management, and execution to ensure timely delivery and cost control.
• Drive Brownfield project execution with minimal disruption to ongoing plant operations and production schedules.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety norms, and regulatory requirements during project execution.
• Manage commissioning, trial runs, performance validation, and smooth handover to operations.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports, MIS, and dashboards for senior management.
• Ensure documentation, lessons learned, and post-project review for continuous improvement.

3. Utilities & Infrastructure Management

• Oversee utilities such as electrical systems, compressors, HVAC, DG sets, etc.
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of plant utilities.
• Optimize energy consumption and drive cost-saving initiatives.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct risk assessments for maintenance and project activities.
• Implement and monitor safety practices (LOTO, PPE, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and audits.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Implement TPM, Lean, or Kaizen initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
• Drive reliability improvement programs.

6. Team Management

• Lead and supervise maintenance team and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance and training.
• Ensure proper manpower planning and performance management.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering
  (Diploma with relevant experience may also be considered)

Experience Required

• 15–20 years of experience in maintenance
• Experience in manufacturing / plant operations preferred.
