General Manager-R&D

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Platform Leader will be responsible for ensuring the growth and competitiveness of the product platform. This role is responsible to deliver customer value, cost efficiency, and compliance, while continuously evolving to meet future market and technology needs. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline projects delivery, optimize performance, and achieve QCD goals.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Lifecycle Management:

• Oversee the end-to-end platform lifecycle, from ideation to new product introduction, mid-life upgrades, cost down programs.
• Ensures competitive benchmarking and address gaps proactively.
• Identify opportunities for new capabilities or product enhancements.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of products.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects, ensuring collaboration across R&D, Testing, QA, Manufacturing and Sourcing.
• Ensure early involvement of stakeholders in design, testing and evaluation of key attributes.
• Act as a single point owner for all platform related decisions and trade-offs.

Business Impact & Operational Efficiency:

• Deliver performance metrics, ensuring platform meet Quality, Time, Cost and budget targets.

• Drive cost optimization in product development without compromising quality.

Stakeholder Communication:

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on platform progress, risks, and opportunities.

Experience

15+ years in R&D, with at least 8-10 years in Project Management

Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Engineering /Technology, MBA preferred
