Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a vital member of the Supply Chain Management team at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for the comprehensive material procurement for the Bolero project, managing approximately 1400 parts across 150 vendors and suppliers. Your role will encompass ensuring adherence to the monthly procurement schedule, proactively preventing production line delays by guaranteeing material availability. You will play a critical role in identifying alternative suppliers or materials promptly when faced with supply challenges or critical situations, thus maintaining seamless operations. Effective inventory management is crucial, where you will strive to optimize stock levels, balancing minimum inventory with uninterrupted supply to support production demands. Collaboratively, you will work with cross-functional teams to forecast demand, negotiate contracts, and assess supplier performance to foster a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.

Furthermore, your responsibilities will involve continuous monitoring of procurement processes, implementing strategic sourcing practices, and integrating best industry standards to enhance supply chain efficiency. You will be expected to lead initiatives in supplier development, risk mitigation, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Your insightful analysis and decision-making skills will support the organisation’s objectives of quality, sustainability, and financial prudence.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational foundation with qualifications such as a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Technology, particularly with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with specialized knowledge in mechanical systems, materials science, and manufacturing processes will be especially well-equipped to excel in this role.

General Experience

The role demands a seasoned professional with 10 to 12 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, procurement, or related fields within manufacturing industries, preferably within the automotive or cycle sector. Extensive exposure to large-scale procurement projects involving complex vendor networks and diverse material portfolios is essential. Demonstrated expertise in managing supplier relationships, demand forecasting, and inventory control will be critical to success.

Practical knowledge of ERP systems, especially SAP, coupled with strong analytical skills, will empower the candidate to manage procurement cycles efficiently and contribute to strategic business decisions. Experience in negotiating contracts, navigating legal compliance, and applying risk management principles will further enhance the candidate’s capability to drive cost savings and supplier performance improvements.

Critical Experience

Critical to this position is experience in executing strategic procurement operations at scale, including hands-on management of a high volume of parts and multiple vendor relationships, ideally within the automotive or cycle industries. The candidate should have a proven track record of ensuring zero line loss by meticulously planning and securing material availability despite complex supply chain variables.

Expertise in developing contingency plans, identifying alternate sources swiftly during supply disruptions, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to balance cost and availability is paramount. Leadership competencies, such as strategic business orientation, sustainability focus, innovative problem solving, and fostering collaborative partnerships, will be pivotal.

Proficiency in leveraging technology for demand management, forecasting, and vendor analytics, together with strong communication and conflict resolution skills, will facilitate effective stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.
