Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
• Knowledge about electrical and electronics components in automobile firms. • Experience in electrical vehicle projects in automotive firms. • Experience in handling Li-ion battery components, including cells, modules, packs, BMS, wire harness, sensors, flexible PCB, BDU, and related materials.
Supplier Scouting and Industry Mapping: • Conduct thorough scouting of potential suppliers for electric powertrain components. • Perform detailed industry mapping to identify leading suppliers and emerging trends.
Supplier Selection and Price Negotiation: • Identify and select suitable suppliers for electric powertrain components. • Evaluate suppliers based on technical capabilities, cost, quality, and sustainability. • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and innovation. • Lead price negotiations, ensuring competitive pricing aligns with company standards and budget.
Costing and Product Cost Analysis: • Develop cost estimates for electric powertrain components using predefined templates and methodologies. • Regularly update costing models to reflect market conditions and supplier pricing.
Financial Analysis and Risk Assessment: • Analyze suppliers' balance sheets for commercial negotiations. • Assess financial health and risk indicators of suppliers to mitigate potential supply chain risks. • Conduct budget control.
Cost Reduction and Negotiation Strategies: • Identify and implement cost reduction ideas during negotiations. • Develop plans for cost savings without compromising quality or delivery timelines. • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams on value engineering opportunities.
Negotiation Skills: • Exhibit strong negotiation skills for favorable terms and pricing from suppliers. • Maintain robust relationships with suppliers for smooth negotiations and long-term partnerships.
Price Containment: • Implement strategies for effective price containment aligned with cost management objectives. • Devise sourcing strategies considering current and future business needs and industry dynamics.
Supplier Risk Management: • Develop and execute supplier risk management plans. • Proactively identify and mitigate geopolitical, environmental, and market-related risks.
Compliance and Ethical Conduct: • Ensure compliance to processes and systems with a high degree of ethical conduct.
Benchmarking Technology and Prices: • Conduct benchmarking studies to compare technology and prices across the industry. • Use benchmarking data for informed decision-making to ensure competitiveness.
Cross-Functional Team Coordination: • Demonstrate strong coordination and communication skills within cross-functional teams. • Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Additional Areas of Expertise: • Knowledge in handling development and supply agreements, including awareness of legal clauses. • Engage with suppliers to ensure compliance with ESG guidelines. • Conduct capacity planning and signoff with critical suppliers to ensure smooth supplies. • Regularly update prices to ensure accuracy, considering RM and Forex indexing.
Support to Business Units: • Provide support to other business units, including spares. • Develop differential sourcing strategies.
