Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Role Overview

As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories business, Manager – Design, CAS  (Class A Surfacing) will be responsible for transforming design concepts into production-feasible Class A surfaces across Special Vehicle (SPV) and Accessories programs. This role is critical in ensuring that design intent is translated into aesthetically refined, manufacturable, and engineering-compliant surfaces that meet Mahindra's quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Class A Surface Development

  • Develop high-quality Class A surfaces from design intent models while maintaining styling accuracy and aesthetic excellence.

Surface Quality & Continuity Management

  • Ensure surface quality, continuity, curvature, and highlight performance meet automotive Class A standards.
  • Conduct detailed surface evaluations and implement improvements to enhance visual quality and manufacturability.

Engineering & Manufacturing Integration

  • Interface with engineering teams for tooling, stamping, and manufacturing teams to validate feasibility and support efficient production processes.

Design Reviews & Data Release

  • Support design reviews, milestone assessments, design freeze activities, and management presentations.
  • Prepare and release production-ready CAS data in accordance with program timelines and quality standards.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in Class A surfacing and digital modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in ICEM Surf and CATIA.
  • Strong understanding of surface quality analysis, continuity, and curvature management.
  • Knowledge of automotive tooling, stamping, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to balance design intent with engineering and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent visualization and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Effective collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.

Education Qualification

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in automotive CAS modeling, Class A surfacing, vehicle design development, or related disciplines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field.
  • Experience working on automotive exterior, interior, or accessories programs within OEMs, design studios, or engineering organizations preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting design development, surface release, and production feasibility activities.
