Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Manager - Expense Analytics at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, you will play a pivotal role in fortifying our financial governance framework and enhancing the quality of decision-making across the organisation. Your expertise will drive advanced analytics initiatives, promote automation, and uphold disciplined cost management practices. Your insights will deliver an up-to-date and comprehensive view of expenses, aid in provisioning accuracy, and enable strategic financial planning with foresight into future cost implications.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Expense Provisioning & Governance: Take ownership of the timely and precise month-end expense provisioning process. Review accrual quality meticulously, identify discrepancies or errors requiring resolution, and maintain a rigorous oversight of regulatory and corporate policies to promote robust governance. You will become the guardian of compliance, leading proactive exception reporting to mitigate financial risks.
  • Variance Analysis & Insight Delivery: Conduct detailed comparative analyses between actual spend versus budget and forecasts. Identify root causes of variances, the main financial drivers, and any emerging risks. Convert these analyses into clear, actionable insights that inform leadership decisions and reinforce financial accountability across departments.
  • Budgeting & Cost-Centre Governance: Support and contribute to the annual budgeting cycle. Regularly monitor cost-centre performance through structured and comprehensive reviews, ensuring departments align with budget guidelines and financial discipline is actively fostered across all teams.
  • Rolling Forecasts & Predictive Expense Modelling: Develop and maintain rolling expense forecasts using advanced predictive indicators and trend modelling. These forecasts will provide early visibility into financial trends, highlight potential deviations in spending patterns, and recommend timely corrective actions to maintain fiscal health.
  • Digital Dashboards, Automation & MIS Enhancement: Spearhead the creation and continuous improvement of automated financial dashboards and Management Information Systems (MIS). These tools will enhance transparency, reduce reliance on manual processes, facilitate real-time monitoring, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Employee Spend Intelligence & Controls: Vigilantly monitor individual employee spending behaviours to detect anomalies or irregular patterns. Collaborate with relevant teams to propose, establish, and enforce refined process and policy controls to mitigate risks and optimize expenditure.
  • Cost Optimisation & Value Identification: Leverage data analytics to uncover opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions. Provide comprehensive, evidence-based recommendations that support enterprise-wide financial performance enhancements and sustainable value creation.

This role offers a dynamic platform to blend financial expertise with modern analytics tools, influencing key business outcomes and contributing significantly to the overall financial health of the organisation.

Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a professional qualification such as CA or MBA in Finance, complemented by substantial experience ranging between three to six years in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), analytics, or a closely related analytical function within a corporate finance setting.

This experience should encompass hands-on involvement with complex financial data analysis, budgeting cycles, forecasting methodologies, and expense governance. The candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in interpreting financial metrics to deliver meaningful insights and support strategic financial management.

Strong familiarity with expense provisioning, variance analysis, and cost control frameworks is essential. Prior exposure to advanced analytics applications, including predictive modelling and automation within finance processes, will be highly regarded.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record of partnering with diverse teams, contributing to financial discipline, and driving process improvements that enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.

Qualifications

The qualifications sought for this role are:

  • Professional Certifications: Chartered Accountant (CA) or Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (I.C.W.A.) certification, reflecting strong foundational expertise in accounting and financial management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet manipulation, with a particular emphasis on Excel, including the use of complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Data Analytics & Visualization: Competency in business intelligence tools such as Power BI or equivalent platforms, enabling the development of automated dashboards and insightful reports.
  • Finance Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of expense accounting principles, provisions, budgeting processes, and preparation and analysis of financial statements.
  • Analytical Acumen: High data literacy with the ability to translate complex analytics into practical business actions that improve financial outcomes.
  • Mindset: A forward-looking, agile approach consistent with the latest trends in FP&A and financial controllership, eager to embrace technology-driven solutions in finance.

General Requirements

  • Strong expertise and understanding in expense accounting, provisioning, comprehensive budgeting, and detailed financial statement analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance across all financial reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI is essential, including experience with automation tools and data visualization techniques that enhance reporting efficiency and decision support.
  • Exceptional data literacy skills paired with the ability to convert analytical findings into actionable recommendations that align with business objectives and drive financial accountability.
