Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced sustainability professional to lead the Mahindra Group’s sustainability disclosures and ESG investor engagement. This role will be responsible for managing key global and domestic ESG ratings (e.g., CDP, DJSI, Crisil, etc.) and driving actions aligned with updated reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, ISSB, TCFD, CSRD, etc.), while serving as a custodian for all ESG-related investor conversations, working with the Chief Sustainability Officer to ensure a transparent strategic narrative to build trust and engagement with the investor community. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in sustainability reporting, data management, and stakeholder communication, along with a strategic mindset to support the Group’s long-term sustainability goals
Must Haves
- Experience: 4–8 years in corporate sustainability or ESG consulting, with exposure to global and domestic reporting frameworks (GRI, ISSB, TCFD, CSRD etc.)
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with ESG ratings (CDP, DJSI, WDI), BRSR, and ESG data platforms (e.g., Sphera)
- Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities with proficiency in Excel and sustainability metrics
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft high-quality reports and respond to investor queries
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently and deliver results under tight timeline
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Lead and manage Group-level submissions for CDP (Climate, Water, Supply Chain), DJSI, WDI, etc. ensuring timely and accurate disclosures
- Collaborate with internal teams and Mahindra Group companies to gather, validate, and analyse ESG data for external reporting
- Work closely with the Investor Relations team to address and resolve ESG-related investor queries and ensure consistent, transparent communication
- Monitor and interpret evolving global and domestic ESG regulations and reporting standards.
- Support the development of the Group’s annual sustainability report and Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR)
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement and capacity building across Group companies
- Maintain strong relationships with ESG rating agencies and ensure alignment with their expectations and methodologies
Education and experience
- 4-8 years of experience in sustainability in large companies/ consulting firms
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environment or related space (non-environment degree with relevant experience also works, sustainability/ ESG related certifications is a plus)
- Proven track record of engaging senior leadership and working with cross-functional teams
- Experience in project management and delivery
- Proven hands-on experience in preparing and submitting ESG disclosures, engaging with rating agencies and investors, and managing sustainability assurance processes.
