Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Role Purpose:
Mahindra Auto is establishing a large-scale Greenfield manufacturing facility in Nagpur that will play a critical role in the future growth of the organisation. The Plant HR Lead will be a key member of the founding leadership team responsible for designing, building and scaling the people agenda for the project from inception through stabilization and long-term growth. This role goes beyond traditional plant HR management. The incumbent will architect the entire people ecosystem for the new manufacturing facility, including workforce strategy, organisation design, capability building, culture creation, talent acquisition and employee experience. As the HR leader for the Greenfield project, the role will partner closely with business, manufacturing, project, and corporate teams to ensure the plant is set up with the right capabilities, culture and workforce model to support future business requirements. The role offers a unique opportunity to create a high-performing manufacturing organisation from the ground up, creating a lasting impact on one of Mahindra's most significant future manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Workforce Strategy & Manpower Planning
- Develop the workforce strategy and people roadmap aligned to the plant commissioning and capacity ramp-up plans.
- Lead strategic manpower planning across all stages of project development.
- Design white collar workforce models that balance productivity, capability requirements, operational flexibility and cost competitiveness.
- Build long-term talent pipelines for critical manufacturing, technical and leadership roles.
HR Business Partnering
- Partner with Plant Leadership and Project teams to translate business objectives, commissioning milestones and growth plans into an integrated people strategy.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on organization design, workforce requirements, talent decisions, leadership effectiveness and change management.
- Provide strategic HR insights and workforce analytics to support data-driven business decisions during plant setup and scale-up.
Talent Management & Leadership Development
- Build robust talent review, succession planning and leadership development processes aligned to Mahindra people practices.
- Identify, develop and accelerate high-potential talent across the plant.
- Create strong capability pipelines for critical and leadership positions.
Culture & Employee Experience
- Shape and institutionalize a high-performance, values-driven culture aligned to Mahindra Values from the inception stage.
- Drive employee engagement, communication and organisational effectiveness initiatives.
- Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
Performance & Productivity
- Drive performance management practices aligned to operational and business outcomes.
- Partner with business leaders to link capability development and talent interventions with productivity, quality and business performance.
- Drive organisation effectiveness and productivity initiatives through workforce optimization, capability enhancement and performance interventions.
HR Leadership
- Build and lead the plant HR organisation.
- Develop HR team capabilities to support an expanding manufacturing operation.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive HR experience with significant exposure to manufacturing and plant HR.
- MBA / Master's degree in Human Resources or a related discipline
- Experience in leading HR for large-scale manufacturing operations.
- Previous exposure to Greenfield projects, plant setup, plant expansion or large-scale organisational build-out will be advantageous.
- Experience managing both strategic and operational HR agendas.
